We are looking for an experienced full-time Giving Officer responsible for securing vital funding to support the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank’s (CPFB) mission in North-Central Pennsylvania by cultivating and maintaining strong personal relationships with a variety of donors. This role will focus on identifying, engaging, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors, aligning their giving with CPFB's mission of fighting hunger and improving lives.

Managing a portfolio of donors and prospects, the Giving Officer will develop tailored strategies to engage supporters at different giving levels, ensuring donor retention while identifying opportunities for upgrades and deeper involvement. This includes promoting planned giving, multi-year donations, events, volunteerism, presentations and special campaigns that support CPFB’s work in providing nutritious food to those in need. The Giving Officer will also work closely with the Vice President, Development and the SVP/Chief Development Officer to integrate best practices in donor stewardship and growth.

The Giving Officer must be familiar with working in a nonprofit environment, be cognizant of relationship building with all stakeholders including donors, staff, volunteers, and board members.

Job responsibilities

Job Accountabilities:
• Donor Cultivation & Relationship Management: Identify, engage and build relationships with prospective donors. Develop and maintain strong relationships with current donors to ensure continued support. Engage with donors through personalized communications, events, etc. to express appreciation and deepen commitment.
• Fundraising Campaigns: Plan, organize and assist in executing fundraising campaigns to increase donations. Implement annual and long-term fundraising strategies in conjunction with the Development Team’s goals.
• Donor Stewardship: Acknowledge and recognize donors in a timely and personalized manner.
• Manage and input all donor interactions, and biographical information and activity in CPFB’s donor database; keep all information up to date and accurate.
• Assist department as needed in providing support to any donor.
• As a part of the development team, provide event planning support for CPFB events.
• Maintain confidentiality in response of CPFB donors.
• Participate in department and full staff meetings.
• Work cooperatively and be able to communicate effectively with staff and volunteers to meet and sustain CPFB goals.
• Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned.

Other Duties:
• In instances of a federal, state or locally declared emergency, CPFB is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all employees may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties.

Education and Experience:
Education:
• A college degree preferred or three to five years’ equivalent work experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:
• A minimum of three years of fundraising experience in a nonprofit organization or professional customer service with track record of maintaining positive relationships.

• Knowledge of organization’s computer software and systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, department-specific software systems, telecommunications, and internet applications.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment (machines, tools, and devices) used in performing only the essential functions including computer and related equipment, typewriter, calculator, photocopier, fax machine, and telephone.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Physical Requirements or Licenses:
• The position has the ability to work a hybrid schedule at the discretion of the Vice President, Development or based on the needs of the organization.
• A valid driver’s license with history of a good driving record.
• Ability to travel that may include consecutive overnight stays, and traveling by car, bus, and airplane.
• Conditions may include working closely with others, working alone, and working protracted or irregular hours.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• The work environment is typically quiet.
