Job Purpose:

The Manager of the Elko Rural Food Hub is responsible for the daily leadership, management and operational oversight the food bank’s facility located in Elko, NV. This role ensures the safe, efficient and reliable distribution of food to individuals and partner organizations throughout the region while maintaining high standards for warehouse operations, logistics coordination, inventory management, food safety and community engagement.

Operating with a high degree of independence, the Manager oversees all onsite operations including warehouse activities, inventory control, transportation coordination, fleet and equipment oversight, facility management, and the supervision of staff and volunteers. This position serves as the operational leader for the Rural Food Hub and is accountable for maintaining efficient workflows, accurate inventory practices, regulatory compliance, and dependable service levels across a large rural service area.

This role requires significant operational and warehouse management experience with demonstrated knowledge of logistics, supply chain coordination, inventory systems, food safety standards, and distribution operations. Experience managing warehouse facilities that include material handling equipment’s, commercial refrigeration and freezer systems, loading docks, commercial box trucks, tractors, and trailers is strongly preferred. The Manager must be capable of balancing day to day tactical operations with longer team operational planning, process improvement and problem solving in a dynamic environment.

Strong leadership, customer service and community engagement sills are also critical to mainlining productive relationships with partner agencies, donors, volunteers, vendors and community stakeholders throughout the service regions.

Job responsibilities

Essential Duties include but are not limited to:

Facility Operations & Food Distribution

· Manage the day-to-day operations of the facility, including the warehouse, transportation and delivery and inventory management. Eventually, oversight of the onsite food, pantry, and office functions once those portions of the facility come online.

· Supports food receiving, storage, inventory management, and distribution activities.

· Ensure proper food safety, storage, and handling standards are followed in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements, which include AIB standards.

· Maintain accurate inventory tracking and reporting within the organization’s ERP system.

· Ensure the facility is safe, organized, and operating efficiently.

· Oversee maintenance needs and coordinate repairs, vendors, and facility upkeep as needed.

Manage AIB food safety standards including compliance, documentation, and certifications.

Staff & Volunteer Supervision

· Supervise and support onsite staff member(s).

· Provide training, scheduling, and performance oversight for assigned staff.

· Recruit, coordinate, and support volunteers who assist with pantry operations and food distribution.

· Foster a collaborative and positive team environment.

· Responsible for training and executing proper staff/volunteer safety measures.

Reporting & Administrative Responsibilities

· Maintain accurate records for food distribution, inventory, and pantry neighbors.

· Submit regular reports to the main facility regarding operations, service levels, and community needs.

· Monitor key performance indicators and identify operational improvements.

· Assist with regional data collection related to food insecurity and service gaps.

Safety & Compliance

· Ensure compliance with:

· Food safety standards / AIB

· Feeding America guidelines

· USDA program requirements

· Organizational policies

· Maintain safe warehouse and facility operations.

· Ensure safe use of equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and lift gates if applicable.

Application qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

Required

· 3–5 years of experience in operations, logistics, or warehouse management.

· Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers.

· Strong organizational and operational management skills.

· Experience managing warehouse or inventory operations.

· Experience with ERP or inventory management systems.

· Experience building and managing budgets.

· Experience with facility management.

· Experience working with diverse populations and providing customer-focused services.

· Ability to work independently and manage a remote facility with limited direct supervision.

· Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data entry systems[NL1] .

Preferred

· Experience working in a non-profit organization

· Experience in food banking, hunger relief, or social services.

· Experience working in rural or geographically dispersed communities.
