Your Role in Our Mission
The Volunteer Operations Specialist supports a safe, organized, and positive in-house volunteer experience at Food Bank of the Rockies. This role will oversee and support various projects including but not limited to Sorting, Repack, CSFP, Loose Repack and Produce Bag programs. This position assists in organizing the safety and flow of the work area for both set-up and breakdown and provides hands-on support to the volunteers throughout each shift. The position requires good communication skills in both public-facing circumstances and with internal Food Bank of the Rockies (FBR) staff. This individual works directly with the Volunteer Operations Supervisor for inventory accuracy, data entry, and creating a memorable and fulfilling volunteer experience.
What You’ll Do
•Oversee various tasks including project set-up and breakdown of work areas
•Train volunteers for assigned tasks that take place within the Volunteer Center, Food Bank of the Rockies’ mission, and safe work practices
•Assist with managing re-call items received from Feeding America (FA) and monitor for compliance
•Maintain the warehouse in a neat, clean and orderly manner according to Feeding America, American Institute of Baking (AIB), and FBR sanitation standards of practice
•Utilize CERES (warehouse inventory system) to create pallet tags for all re-pack projects
•Assist with moving products in and out of the room with electric pallet-jack or manual pallet jack
•Pallet put-aways using a scan-gun
•Organize, clean and secure Volunteer Center at end of each workday
•Ensure proper handling of refrigerated, frozen, and dry food products and communicate safety standards to volunteers
•Follow all FBR safety guidelines and regulations to help maintain a safe work environment
•Provide back up support for other Volunteer Operations staff as needed
•Handle confidential information with discretion and care, ensuring the privacy and respect of employees, volunteers, partners, donors, or others

•Daily use of heavy equipment including forklift, stand up/sit down lift truck, step up pallet jack, automatic pallet jack and manual pallet jack
•Push and pull up to 2,000 lb. pallets with a manual pallet jack
•Frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds
•Frequently working in a multi-temp warehouse environment, temperatures may vary (hot/cold)
•Using office equipment such as a computer, mouse, keyboard, printer
Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, non-exempt role working 40 hours per week with a work schedule that consists of Tuesday – Saturday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
