Your Role in Our Mission
The Development Business Intelligence Analyst (BI Analyst) plays a key strategic role on the Development and Database team, leading the use of analytics to support fundraising and engagement efforts at Food Bank of the Rockies.
This position collaborates closely with both the Development and Database teams to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality across systems. The BI Analyst designs, builds, and maintains dashboards and reports; conducts prospect and portfolio analysis; supports data QA and pipeline testing. ; and contributes to the documentation and delivery of high-quality data products that advance organizational goals .
Working in close alignment with the Data Systems Engineer—who provides operational oversight and task delegation—the BI Analyst helps drive data-informed decision-making through proactive reporting and cross-functional collaboration.

What You’ll Do
Business Intelligence & Analytics
• Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, RENXT, and Excel.
• Provide scheduled and ad hoc analysis of donor, campaign, and engagement data to support fundraising strategy.
• Conduct segmentation, portfolio analysis, and translate data insights into actionable recommendations for non-technical audiences.
Data Infrastructure & Automation
• Support ETL/ELT workflows and data quality processes in coordination with the Data Systems Engineer.
• Monitor and maintain data pipelines across CRM, marketing, and volunteer platforms and assist in addressing anomalies
• Develop scripts (e.g., Python) to automate reporting processes, data transformations and integrations; document data schema and workflows
Platform Development & Optimization
• Assist with internal tool development, testing, rollout, and enhancement of enterprise applications.
• Identify manual reporting and data processes for automation and propose efficient technical solutions
Data Governance & Compliance
• Adhere to and support SOP generation related to data quality, access control, and security in conjunction with Database Manager
• Conduct routine data quality audits and maintenance tasks; maintain documentation, calendars, and SOPs for audit processes.
• Ensure compliance with donor privacy standards, consent policies, and internal development protocols
Collaboration & Project Management
• Maintain templates, workflows, user profiles, and reports across platforms such as Raiser’s Edge, Omatic, Smartsheet, and ResearchPoint.
• Lead BI Projects including dashboard builds, report redesigns, and analytical requests
• Support projects including data cleanups, infrastructure updates, and new system implementations.
• Coordinate with Development, Marketing, IT, and Finance departments on cross-functional data initiatives.
• Protect sensitive donor information and maintain confidentiality standards.
• Provide team coverage during peak periods or absences; perform related duties as assigned

• Handle confidential information with discretion and care, ensuring the privacy and respect of employees, volunteers, partners, donors, or others

What We’re Looking For
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; or equivalent professional experience
• 3–5 years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or nonprofit CRM systems
• Proficiency with Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent dashboarding platforms
• Advanced Excel skills; strong understanding of data modeling and visualization best practices
• Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (such as Python, VBA, etc.) and/or experience developing complex flows on low code platforms (Microsoft Power), used for automating data processes, custom reporting, or API-based integrations.
• Familiarity with CRM systems such as Raiser’s Edge, Engaging Networks, ResearchPoint, or similar
• Strong project management and cross-functional communication skills
• Background in data analysis, business intelligence, or systems administration preferred
• Experience in nonprofit, fundraising, or mission-driven organizations is a plus
• Strong self-direction and time management skills; planning and prioritizing work to accomplish all tasks in the time allotted; consistently meets deadlines
• Understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, APIs, and cloud-based data tools preferred

Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position working approximately 40 hours per week. A flexible work schedule is available, with the option of working remotely two days a week. While the anticipated schedule is Monday through Friday, the individual may establish a work window that suits their needs (e.g., 7 a.m.–3 p.m., 9 a.m.–5 p.m.), provided they are available for meetings and required activities during core business hours of 9a.m. – 3p.m.
