Maui Food Bank is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organization into its next chapter.
Today, two in every five households in Maui County struggle with food insecurity. The CEO is responsible
for the vision, strategy, relationships, and advocacy –This position will lead four core strategic priorities:
robust community partnerships, expanded fresh and local food distribution, disaster readiness and
response, and the completion of a new facility. Alongside dedicated and passionate staff and network of
committed partners, the new CEO has an opportunity to define how MFB impacts immediate and long-
term food security across Maui County.

Job responsibilities

Leadership & Organizational Strength
• Lead a committed, mission-driven team with clarity, transparency, and effective communication
• Manage the senior leadership team and support their professional growth
• Support staff engagement, leadership development, and a positive culture throughout MFB
• Partner with the Board of Directors on governance, strategy, and planning

Community Relationships & Partnerships
• Serve as a visible and trusted representative for Maui Food Bank across the county
• Deepen existing partnerships and forge new relationships with nonprofit organizations, funders,
and government agencies
• Lead advocacy at county, state, and federal levels, joining other food banks and food systems
partners in government relations and policy efforts
• Strengthen MFB’s role as an advocate and collaborative partner within the broader food security
and social service ecosystems

Strategic Direction & Visibility
• Clarify and communicate Maui Food Bank’s role and value to the community to increase awareness
of MFB’s work, partnerships, and results
• Align internal operations with shared goals and long-term strategic priorities: partnerships, fresh
and local food, disaster response, and a new facility

Resource Development & Financial Sustainability
• Steward existing financial resources with strong oversight and discipline
• Support long-term financial sustainability through revenue growth strategies, effective cost controls,
and asset management
• Oversee fundraising efforts, including major gifts, grants programs, and a capital campaign to
complete planning and construction of a new facility
• Carry out donor relations with both monetary and in-kind donation partners, including government
agencies, foundations, distributors, and retail outlets

Operations & Execution
• Optimize food sourcing, warehouse operations, distribution, and agency partner relationships to
meet food safety standards and maximize reach
• Ensure effective and compliant financial, operational, and administrative systems
• Oversee annual budgeting, financial reporting, and organizational performance
• Lead through complexity, including disaster response and evolving community needs

Application qualifications

• Senior leadership experience, with responsibility for organizational direction and team management
• Strong relationship-building skills, with experience working within a community context
• Demonstrated strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into action
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in fundraising, development, or resource generation
• Financial and operational management experience
• Experience leading through change, growth, or crisis
• Experience in food banks or hunger relief work is valued but not required.

Benefits

BASE SALARY RANGE: $140,000 – $150,000+ aligned with experience. Benefits provided.

Maui Food Bank (MFB) has been a steady force in hunger relief across Maui County since 1994. The
organization works with a network of more than 120 nonprofits, churches, and community groups to
distribute food to individuals and families struggling with food insecurity. Over the past six years, MFB has
significantly expanded its reach in response to unprecedented need and currently serves over 40,000
people every month. Through strong community support, dedicated staff, and meaningful partnerships,
MFB works to ensure all people in Maui County have access to healthy food.
