Keith Monda Named Chair of Feeding America’s National Board

June 15, 2016

Feeding America announced today that Keith D. Monda, former president and COO of Coach, Inc., has been elected to Chair of the Feeding America National Board of Directors. His term will begin on July 1, the beginning of Feeding America’s 2017 fiscal year.

“Keith brings intelligence, expertise and enthusiasm to his work with us," said Diana Aviv, CEO of Feeding America. “He is passionate and truly committed to our mission of feeding food-insecure people today while we work toward our ultimate vision of creating a hunger-free America.”

Monda succeeds Jan Pruitt, president and CEO of the North Texas Food Bank in Dallas, who has served as Feeding America’s board chair since 2014. Monda’s term will run for one year, but can be renewed. He has served on the Feeding America board since 2012.

“As we work toward the mission of feeding 46 million food-insecure Americans, it’s imperative that we have a visionary who draws on his excellent track record in the business world, philanthropy and food banking,” said Jan Pruitt, outgoing Feeding America board chair. “Keith Monda is a superb choice to lead the board, and I look forward to working alongside him.”

“I am honored and excited to be elected the board chair of Feeding America, an organization committed to ending hunger in the United States. We are looking forward to working in collaboration with other organizations in the public, private and independent sectors to create a hunger-free America,” said Keith D. Monda.

Monda spent many years in senior management positions at Coach, Inc. prior to becoming its president and COO. Earlier in his career he held senior leadership positions at The Timberland Company, J. Crew Group, Inc., and Pfizer Inc.

Since retiring from Coach, Inc., Monda, along with his wife Linda, have focused their time on philanthropic and nonprofit leadership roles and service. He is currently chair of the Board of Trustees of New College of Florida and chairs The Ohio State University Foundation's Board of Directors.

Monda is an active member of his home community of Sarasota, Florida, where he serves as a member of the board of directors of All Faiths Food Bank, a network member of Feeding America. He helped establish Sarasota's Campaign Against Summer Hunger, which distributes meals and healthy snacks to kids and families through backpack programs and food pantries.

Additionally, he and his wife provide swimming lessons for more than 2,300 second graders each year and helped initiate a Reading Recovery program in the school system for children who have great difficulty reading and writing after their first year of school.

Monda also has a deep interest in social entrepreneurship. He is the principal investor and business partner with Aleph Sciences Group (an energy technology company that reduces greenhouse gasses).

He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in economics from The Ohio State University.

The Feeding America Board of Directors is made up of a diverse group of men and women from both private corporations and non-profits. The group helps to set and guide Feeding America's strategic direction to help serve the mission of feeding people in the United States who are struggling with hunger.
