Feeding America statement on the end of the partial shutdown

February 3, 2026

We are deeply grateful that the end of the partial government shutdown also brings an end to the uncertainty felt by families who may have been affected. Together, President Trump and congressional leaders not only worked to end this shutdown, but they had already come together to ensure that critical federal nutrition programs were funded earlier this year by legislation, helping families and communities access the food and support they rely on. For families facing hunger, uncertainty is never abstract. It shows up in quiet moments of worry and in questions about whether help will be there when it’s needed most. Stability matters, and it underscores why partnering to protect and strengthen these programs must remain a priority.
