Feeding America®, the nation's largest hunger-relief organization, is pleased to announce that The David Tepper Charitable Foundation, Inc. and Appaloosa LP have pledged $3 million to help rebuild critical food distribution networks in Puerto Rico, Florida, and Texas following Hurricanes Maria, Irma, and Harvey.
This gift further demonstrates the Foundation’s and Appaloosa’s commitment to supporting hunger-relief efforts and areas affected by natural disasters. The Foundation and Appaloosa have had a long-standing relationship with Feeding America and member food banks in helping to restore and strengthen food distribution networks over the years. The Foundation and Appaloosa previously have donated to Feeding America relief efforts in the wake of Superstorm Sandy and the Oklahoma tornadoes, among many others.
“Our hearts go out to all those impacted across Puerto Rico, Florida, and Texas,” said David Tepper. “Ensuring that food banks and pantries have access to food, clean water and resources in times of crisis is vital to helping these communities recover. Feeding America’s efforts are more critical than ever to rebuild and maintain food distribution networks in the areas hardest hit.”
Chief Executive Officer of Feeding America Diana Aviv, added: “It is the extraordinary generosity of donors who make it possible for Feeding America to help people facing hunger as a result of these natural disasters. The David Tepper Charitable Foundation and Appaloosa truly understand what it takes to rebuild strong food distribution networks in times of great need. Feeding America is deeply grateful for this incredible gift, which will help provide the food and resources necessary to thousands of people directly impacted by these devastating hurricanes.”
