The position plays a crucial role in communicating with all levels of the organization, maintaining the highest level of internal and external customer service. The position will monitor driver dispatching, on-time delivery, and support of drivers throughout the day while redirecting drivers to ensure accuracy and consistency of pickups and deliveries.

Job responsibilities

• Communicate with drivers and volunteers to ensure smooth operation and timely pickup of food pickup and deliveries.
• Monitor all driver routes and conditions for accuracy and efficiency and adjust routes as needed to avoid delays. maintain effective communication with drivers, the warehouse, and the distribution team, ensuring constant communication in the event of route changes and/or challenges.
• Collaborate with the warehouse and allocations to ensure accurate loading and unloading of orders and donations.
• Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including driver logs and delivery and pickup reports.
• Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage and handling of donated food items.
• Respond to inquiries and requests for assistance from partner agencies and community members regarding food distribution.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure transportation performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures.
• Address any issues or concerns that arise during transport operations with relevant departments.
• Assist drivers with any issues encountered throughout their shift.
• Assist in training and supervising volunteers involved in food pickup and delivery activities.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations related to food handling and transportation.
• Assist with additional responsibilities as assigned.

Application qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in logistics or related field preferred.
• Minimum 3 years experience in dispatching, logistics, or transportation coordination preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, SharePoint) and logistics software (Omnitracs experience preferred).
• Strong attention to detail is required.
• Strong analytical, data-interpretation, planning, and problem-solving skills required.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Commitment to the service of others while fully supporting the organization’s mission and values required.
• Must maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License and a reliable, insured personal vehicle.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS
• Hours of Operation: Organization hours are Monday-Friday, 5:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. However, this position may work additional hours occasionally throughout the year, especially during peak times such as holiday seasons, and disaster response.
• Environment: This position works in an office setting with varying periods of standing, talking, and/or visual concentration, and use of office equipment. Must maintain office safety standards. Occasional work will occur in the warehouse or outside in fields and warehouses in inclement weather. The noise in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
• Travel: This position will require travel for meetings, conferences, or special events within the quad-county service area, which may require the use of a personal vehicle.
• OSHA Standards Lifting requirements are 50 pounds and when lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load.
