The Director of Strategic Gifts (DSG) is responsible for leading and expanding Feeding South Florida major, leadership, and strategic gift fundraising efforts across the organization’s four-county service area, with a primary focus on Miami-Dade County and Monroe County. This role focuses on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding philanthropic investments of $10,000 and above that advance Feeding South Florida’s mission, priority programs, and long-term sustainability. The Director of Strategic Gifts is accountable to achieve a minimum annual revenue goal of $3 million, with goals increasing each fiscal year. The role leads high-touch donor engagement strategies for individual donors and private/family foundations, with a strong emphasis on identifying new major gift prospects, deepening existing donor relationships, and securing multi-year and leadership-level commitments.
-Manage a portfolio of approximately 300 current and prospective donors, prioritizing donors capable of making $10,000+ investments, including major, leadership, and planned gifts.
-Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward $10,000+ gifts from individuals and private/family foundations across all four counties, primarily in Miami-Dade County and Monroe County.
-Develop and execute individual major gift strategies that move donors through the full lifecycle, from discovery and cultivation to solicitation, stewardship, and renewal.
-Proactively build and maintain a strong major gifts pipeline by identifying new prospects through research, referrals, community engagement, and re-engagement of lapsed or underperforming donors.
-Successfully close complex and leadership-level gifts, including multi-year commitments, that align donor intent with Feeding South Florida’s programs, capital priorities, and operational needs.
--Schedule and conduct frequent, meaningful donor interactions, including in-person meetings, site visits, presentations, and stewardship touchpoints.
-Serve as a representative for Feeding South Florida, clearly articulating impact, funding priorities, and the value of philanthropic investment.
-Recruit, support and engage an advisory board of key stakeholders, particularly in Miami-Dade County, to expand philanthropic reach and deepen donor relationships.
-Track donor activity, pipeline progress, and revenue projections to inform strategy and performance.
--Participate in regular one-on-one and team meetings to report progress, assess performance, and refine major gift strategies.
-Contribute to department-wide fundraising growth through insight sharing, strategy development, and continuous improvement.
-Perform other duties as assigned to support the advancement of Feeding South Florida’s philanthropic efforts.
-Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent professional fundraising experience.
-5–7 years of progressive fundraising experience, with demonstrated success securing $10,000+ gifts.
-Proven track record of managing a major gifts portfolio and closing significant philanthropic investments.
-Strong ability to build long-term donor relationships and move donors toward increased and sustained giving.
-Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and donor strategies simultaneously.
-Excellent storytelling, public speaking, and presentation skills.
-Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
-Experience tracking and analyzing fundraising metrics and pipeline performance.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel required).
