Feeding America announces transformational $75 million grant from Lilly Endowment, Inc.

January 13, 2026

Feeding America has received a $75 million capacity-building grant from Lilly Endowment, Inc. The three-year grant will further Feeding America’s mission and national strategy to help end hunger in the United States by strengthening its ability to support local communities and advance long-term, sustainable solutions to hunger.

“Thriving communities don’t just happen. They are the direct result of people joining together around shared goals,” said Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America. “This extraordinary investment from Lilly Endowment will be put to work across the nation, strengthening local communities by building their capacity to achieve sustainable progress toward that aim, driven by and co-created with people experiencing hunger.  A hunger-free America will not be easy, but it is possible.”

The grant will support the Feeding America network’s strategic vision to collaborate more deeply with neighbors facing hunger and to engage partners in new and innovative ways to address food insecurity.

“Feeding America and its expansive national network is integral to America’s charitable food system,” said N. Clay Robbins, Lilly Endowment’s chairman and CEO. “At a time when food insecurity is affecting increasing numbers of individuals and families throughout the country, we believe that Feeding America’s strategic initiatives hold great promise to help food banks and their community-based agency partners become stronger, more efficient and more effective at addressing the needs of people experiencing hunger.”

Lilly Endowment’s catalytic investment will accelerate Feeding America’s capacity-building efforts to expand access to nutritious food and address systemic barriers that have perpetuated hunger.

During the next three years, Feeding America will use the grant to build network capacity by scaling fundraising efforts, increasing food sourcing, and strengthening supply chain operations. The investment will also advance technology solutions that support data-driven decision making and enable more efficient, equitable distribution of nutritious food.

Together, these initiatives will help better meet the needs of neighbors facing hunger while building stronger, more resilient communities across the country. Feeding America is deeply grateful to Lilly Endowment for its trust, partnership, and commitment to creating lasting impact for millions of people nationwide.
