Feeding America and America250 partner to build a hunger-free future through national service

America Gives will celebrate the spirit of service year-round and during “Good Neighbor Day America,” a National Day of Service on Saturday, May 16

April 20, 2026

As the United States marks its 250th anniversary by reflecting on our nation’s enduring strength, Feeding America has joined America250 as a founding partner of America Gives. This national call to service honors our tradition of volunteerism by inviting everyone to stand alongside neighbors facing hunger and take action year-round and on May 16, 2026, for Good Neighbor Day America. This is a dedicated day for communities to support neighbors through action.

As a founding partner, Feeding America is elevating our country’s spirit to help our neighbors through volunteering. This partnership is built on the simple truth that hunger touches every community, and the spirit of service in our nation has the unique power to bring us together to solve it.

"Our country’s 250th anniversary is a chance to honor our history and imagine a hunger-free future that we build together," said Denis McDonough, Feeding America CEO. "At its heart, volunteering is about the simple, powerful act of showing up for our neighbors facing hunger and building stronger bonds of connection, care and understanding. When we work together, we aren’t just providing a meal, we are living out our nation’s commitment to taking care of each other ensuring everyone has the opportunity to thrive."

In every community across America, people work hard every day to provide for themselves and their families. Yet, the reality remains that nearly 48 million people, including 14 million children, experienced food insecurity in 2024. Feeding America joined America Gives because when we people in America unite with a common goal, we can end hunger and help communities flourish.

The Feeding America network of over 250 food banks and 60,000 partner agencies drives immediate impact and long-term change by addressing the root causes of hunger. Volunteers across the country are the heartbeat of this work, ensuring families and individuals have access to nutritious food, with dignity.

Whether lending a hand at a local pantry or sorting rescued food, every hand helps strengthen the community you call home. To find your local food bank and sign up to help build a hunger-free future, visit FeedingAmerica.org/TakeAction
