Christina Hennington is a seasoned retail executive and corporate strategist with deep expertise in running large complex commercial operations, developing both short- and long-term strategic plans, building unique and innovative partnerships, and leveraging emerging technologies to accelerate team and business performance. Over the course of nearly 30 years in retail, consulting, risk management and technology, Christina has consistently demonstrated visionary leadership and a proven ability to lead large, global organizations in pursuit of growth and long- term sustainability.

She is a powerful advocate for equity and inclusion, using her influence to champion initiatives that foster high performing, inclusive work environments. Christina brings a global perspective to the table, offering valuable insights into international markets, regulatory frameworks, and cross-cultural dynamics. Her executive acumen spans strategy development, merchandising, product development, process optimization, capability development, stakeholder engagement, compliance, and boardroom governance.

Since joining Target in 2003, Christina has held several leadership roles, most recently serving as Chief Strategy and Growth Officer. Over her 22-year tenure, she led initiatives that drove more than $30 billion in growth and crafted a transformative strategy to modernize the enterprise. Recognized for her leadership and focus on technology and consumer experience, Christina has earned numerous accolades, including Merchandiser of the Year and one of the 50 Most Influential People in the Multicultural Market by Women’s Wear Daily, one of the 50 Outstanding Women in Retail by RetailToday, and one of the Most Influential Women in Retail by Mass Market Retailers.  

Before joining Target, Christina was a consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Boston and served as a product manager for two Boston-based technology start-up businesses. She currently serves on the Board of THOR Industries and is a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute. Christina previously served on the Board of Governors of Cosmetic Executive Women and Second Harvest Heartland, where she chaired the Board during the critical COVID years.

Christina is a dual citizen of the U.S. and Norway and speaks four languages. She received her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University and her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She currently resides in Edina, Minnesota with her family.
