Description

The Food Resource Manager is directly responsible for development and retention of food donation accounts with community partners, stores, manufacturers, farmers, and product brokers. The Food Resource Manager makes weekly donor contacts, including timely follow-up and resolution to inactive and problematic donors.

Job responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Principal Activities:

• Cultivate active local food donors with the goal of receiving more pounds per donation and increasing frequency of donations. This includes coordinating community food drives.
• Research, identify, and recruit new local donors.
• Strengthen relationships with existing produce donors at the local, regional, and national levels
• Conduct site visits in a scheduled manner to target donors in underdeveloped counties.
• Develop educational information material for targeted donors who are interested in
donating.
• Develop and maintain a donor recognition program.
• Develop and maintain a donor recognition letter that acknowledges contributions
• Collaborate with Operations staff to make the most efficient use of transportation and
other logistics needed for handling donations.
• Implement produce sourcing strategy that includes purchases and donations from various sources
• Identify and respond to emerging produce trends and leverage technology to streamline produce procurement and donation processes
• Develop and maintain relationships with BIPOC agricultural producers, donors, processors, and distributors at all levels of the Feeding America Network to secure purchases, donations and surplus products
• Collaborate with other departments to develop marketing materials and social media outreach to raise awareness of and participation in BIPOC Produce Purchasing Program
• Provide monthly status reports on donor activity and development
• Responsible for monitoring and development of donor to agency connections
• Participate in Fundraising events
• Attend food safety classes, acquire, and maintain ServSafe certification
• Complete Certified in Food Resources training through Feeding America
• Other related duties as assigned

Accountability:

• Work harmoniously with all other departments and staff
• Work closely with the Operations and Agency Relations team

Administration:

• Ensure all Safety and Sanitation rules are followed by all personnel and are in compliance with Feeding America, AIB, and Food Bank of the Albemarle guidelines, regulations and policies
• Standing member of the Food Safety Committee and the Recall Committee

Application qualifications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field or extensive applicable experience in food industry, agricultural resourcing and/or account sales
• Minimum 3-4 years of agricultural sourcing experience
• Background in food safety/product handling preferred
• Demonstrated independent judgement and analysis
• Computer experience required with desktop publishing experience preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Essential Requirements:

• Applicant must be a self-starter possessing the ability to work independently with minimal
supervision as well as integrate as a team member when required
• Must demonstrate willingness to pursue appropriate professional development
opportunities
• Must be able to interact professionally with the public
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Applicant must have experience using Microsoft applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook,
and able to work in a Microsoft 365 environment
• Must be able to navigate database entry and word processing tasks with accuracy and
efficiency
• Must have and maintain a valid, state-issued Driver’s License
• Applicant must authorize a North Carolina Criminal Record Check and Motor Vehicle
Report
• All employees must adhere to Food Bank of the Albemarle’s Drug and Alcohol Policy

Leave:
Full time employees will accrue vacation and sick leave in accordance with FBA’s personnel policies.

Health Insurance: FBA does have a group plan and full-time employees are covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC. FBA covers 98% of the premium cost for health, dental insurance, AD&D, and life insurance. Insurance will be effective on the 91st day of employment. Dependent care under these insurance plans is also available with the employee paying the full cost through payroll deduction.

Retirement: Full time employees are eligible to participate in a Simple IRA plan to which FBA offers a matching contribution up to 3%.
