Member of the Chicago's Community Kitchens (CCK) Team, supporting the production, packaging, and distribution of prepared meals. Additionally, the Production Assistant helps to maintain food safety and sanitation, as well as occupational safety in the kitchen.
Food Prep – adhere to food safety and recipe guidelines to safely prepare food items
Meal Packaging – assist in monitoring IDA compliance regulations, maintain consistency and quality of food items
Meal Reheat – adhere to and ensure compliance with HACCP and sanitation processes and procedures
Sanitation Management – maintain a clean workstation and assist with dishes as needed
Inventory Control – assist with receiving and management of FIFO and food safety
Other duties as assigned
Minimum 1 year of experience in a commercial kitchen
Food Handler Sanitation Certification or ability to pass test for certification
Must be organized and detail-oriented
Ability to take direction and feedback
Ability to push, pull, and lift equipment and food containers that weigh up to 50 pounds
Basic computer skills
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
High energy and motivated, with a positive attitude
Ability to problem solve
Exposure:
Commercial kitchen environment, including freezer/refrigerator temperatures
Warehouse exposure as needed
Walking/standing for long periods of time, up to 4 hours at a time
