The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the thought leadership, design, implementation, and execution of all aspects of the organization’s financial strategy. The financial strategy is a key enabler of the Food Bank of the Rockies’ short and long-term goals. The CFO plays a critical role in ensuring the financial health, sustainability, and compliance of Food Bank of the Rockies by overseeing all financial operations and providing strategic financial leadership. As a member of the Executive Team, the CFO plays a key role in the team’s decision-making by bringing and ensuring an enterprise-wide view alongside best-in-class strategic financial standards and approaches. The Chief Financial Officer leads a team of finance and accounting professionals and serves as a key leader in the organization across three distribution centers in Colorado and Wyoming.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Build, maintain, and effectively lead a team of high-functioning finance professionals
• Influence the organization’s overall strategy at both the Board and Executive Team levels
• Build, maintain, evolve, and execute on the organization’s financial strategy and budget
• Routinely analyze, monitor, and make recommendations related to:
o Liabilities and risks
o Opportunities and investments
o Financial performance and resource allocation
o Cash flow and liquidity
• Routinely analyze, monitor, and present financial operation results and recommendations along with potential issues and opportunities to the CEO, Board of Directors, Endowment Board, and team members with P&L responsibility including, but not limited to:
o Monthly financial statements and reporting
o Income statements and balance sheets
o Annual financials
o Necessary audits
• Provide financial guidance and oversight on FBR contracts where appropriate
• Responsible for up-to-date SOPs related to all areas of responsibility
• Oversee banking relationships investment of funds and borrowing requirements, including but not limited to lines of credit or term debt, if needed, where appropriate
• Involved in the investment manager selection/evaluation for funds, including 401(k), investments, and endowment funds
• Review and sign all corporate agreements and contracts and seeks legal counsel as needed
• Serve as a key liaison to the Finance/Audit Committee, the 401-K Committee, the Endowment Board and legal counsel. Serve on other board committees as requested
• Recommend and maintain relationship with an appropriate Audit Firm
• Handle confidential information with discretion and care, ensuring the privacy and respect of employees, volunteers, partners, donors, or others

Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time, exempt position. A hybrid in-person/remote schedule is possible. Work schedule may include very occasional evenings and weekends. Travel required
Required Qualifications:
• Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, regulations, and compliance requirements
• Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting
• Demonstrated senior leadership with strategic and budget planning experience
• Minimum ten years of prior management and leadership experience
• Minimum ten years experience leading finance departments at large, complex organizations
Computer Skills:
• Strong technical skills with the ability to utilize various technologies and learn new technology quickly.
• Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite – specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Working knowledge of Ceres a plus
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in finance, accounting, or business administration or related field; MBA or CPA preferred
• Demonstrated senior leadership and budget planning experience in complex organizations.
• Experience with food distribution preferred.
Compensation:
$205,000-$215,000 (total compensation including bonus).
