SE Ohio Foodbank-Hocking Athens Perry Community Action is seeking a Chief Development Officer. As Chief Development Officer, you will lead all aspects of the Development function including strategy, team management, and financial oversight to fuel HAPCAP’s anti-poverty mission in Southeast Ohio. Job responsibilities

● Develop and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan to include events such as our signature “Bounty on the Bricks” annual fundraising event, mid and major donor cultivation and stewardship, strategic partnerships (community, corporate, foundation, government), direct mail campaign, digital media, and planned giving.
● Provide supervision and guidance to Public Relations team on all Communication strategies including the Annual Report.
● Oversee Agency Volunteer Programs and Community Engagement activities.
● Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and laws and maintain accountability standards relating to fundraising including the Donor Bill of Rights.

Application qualifications

● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Public Policy or Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field required (Master’s degree preferred).
● Experience: Five (5) or more years of development/fundraising experience that includes gift administration, gift acceptance, prospect management, research, and communications. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing public relations strategies and activities.
● Communication: Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Familiarity and comfort in responding to media requests, public speaking, and interacting with stakeholders at all levels.
● Expertise: Practical experience with donor management systems (such as Bloomerang, Raiser’s Edge, etc.), strong organizational and project management skills, and familiarity with other PR adjacent tools such as Canva and Mailchimp.
● Mission Alignment: Passion for addressing issues of poverty and hunger in Southeast Ohio.
● Leadership Skills: Ability to manage employees and teams, inspire donors, and collaborate with stakeholders.
● Integrity: High levels of confidentiality, ethical judgment, and accountability.

We also proudly operate the SE Ohio Foodbank, serving 10 counties in southeast Appalachian Ohio. In 2025, we distributed over 5.5 million pounds of food to over 70,000 people.

We are seeking a dynamic, mission-driven leader to join our team as Chief Development Officer (CDO). Reporting to the Executive Director, this position will play a central role in advancing HAPCAP’s mission—supporting critical programs and projects such as the SE Ohio Foodbank, the HAPCAP for Health Market, and the Sunset Shelter Project—and positioning the organization to meet rising needs in the years ahead.
