Job responsibilities

Identify and develop story content that illustrates the Food Bank’s mission and impact. 

Conduct in-person, audio, and video interviews with neighbors served, volunteers, staff, and community partners using trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches, ensuring respectful and dignified storytelling. 

Draft, edit, and publish story content for use across various platforms, including website, email, social media, and donor appeals. 

Manage and maintain the storytelling and photography database, organizing and optimizing assets to support efficient search, retrieval, and cross-departmental use. 

Protect the dignity, privacy, and consent of those interviewed by obtaining, managing, and adhering to all required releases and permissions for story, photo, and video capture. 

Partner with programs, operations, volunteer services, and agency relations teams to identify story opportunities. 

Document events, campaigns, and programs through photography and videography for use in grant reporting, marketing, and storytelling. 

Support the Chief Philanthropy Officer to fulfill media interview requests by coordinating neighbor availability and serving as a liaison between media partners and neighbors served. 

Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Communications to establish annual storytelling strategy and content calendar. 

Work evenings and weekends as necessary.  

Travel in and around the 29 county area supported by the Food Bank. 

Comply with and abide by all personnel policies. 

Application qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English, or another related field (or equivalent experience). 

5+ years of experience in storytelling, communications, or content creation. 

Bilingual (Spanish) is required. 

Exceptional writing and editing skills. 

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to conduct sensitive interviews. 

Excellent organization and project management skills. 

Ability to self-start and work independently to research new stories and photographic messaging opportunities. 

Ability to shoot and edit photographs and video using provided equipment. 

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite including Lightroom, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro. 

Ability to work cooperatively with other Food Bank staff, volunteers, and neighbors. 

Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions. 

Access to reliable transportation. 

Possess a valid Texas driver’s license, insurance, and a clean driving record.

Work Environment 

This job is performed in an indoor office environment and occasionally may require attendance at outdoor events. You may be required to drive to different locations with varying conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
