For so many people, food goes beyond nourishment. Food is family. Food is connection. Food is love. Supporters like BoxLunch have led with that spirit since day one of its hunger-relief partnership.
Since launching in 2015, BoxLunch has committed to helping end food insecurity—providing more than 262 million meals, to date, for people facing hunger. BoxLunch, a Feeding America Visionary Partner, creates hunger-relief awareness and donates one meal to its local food banks for every $10 its customers spend in-store and online.
“Sharing food brings together communities,” said Jillian Wendt, Senior Director of Marketing for BoxLunch. “At the foundation of why BoxLunch started was the idea to give back to communities, and food insecurity is something no one should have to face.”
10 Years of Hunger-Relief Impact
As the specialty retailer soon will mark its 10th year of partnership (in October 2025) with Feeding America, BoxLunch is looking forward to amplifying the collaboration to boost impact.
“We want to do more and more to raise awareness, and 300 million meals feels really attainable,” Wendt says.
One innovative way BoxLunch will celebrate its 10th anniversary as a Feeding America partner is the launch of an exclusive character with Kaleidos Creative. This limited edition collectible will be available in October 2025
More Than Meals
In addition to supporting hunger relief through in-store and online sales, BoxLunch’s efforts to build awareness for the importance of achieving food security in America is inspiring.
“We want to educate our customers that Feeding America is the destination where they can learn more about the issue of hunger,” Wendt said.
BoxLunch achieves this a number of ways, including through its customer loyalty program: BoxLunch Rewards customers receive information about the impact they’re making for hunger relief with their purchase. Also, a give-back component is featured on a dashboard on the BoxLunch app and by October 2025, the app will include the number of meals donated for people facing hunger.
At the national level, BoxLunch has been a significant partner around key dates, including Giving Tuesday. Their generosity in 2024, for example, helped double the impact for supporters who donated on Giving Tuesday, which raised $1.43 million to provide nourishing meals for people facing hunger during the holiday season.
At the local level, BoxLunch elevates volunteer opportunities in its stores—more than 280 locations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico—offering volunteer days alongside celebrities and influencers.
“Also, each store has a local food bank, so donations stay in that community,” Wendt said. “For our consumers to know exactly where their donations are going—that it’s staying within the community—makes it all really tangible.”
