How the Feeding America network is responding to Hurricane Isaias
Hurricane Isaias impacted the Gulf Coast as a powerful category 2 hurricane. Learn how the Feeding America network is responding, and how you can help ensure communities impacted by disasters have the support they need before, during and after the storm.
What’s happening?
On Friday, October 9, Hurricane Isaias made landfall in the United States, bringing flooding rain, high winds and tornadoes to the Gulf Coast. The storm impacted communities served by food banks on the Florida panhandle and in Alabama. Many neighbors are without power and some towns are facing water disruptions.
How is the Feeding America network responding?
Food banks across the region are working alongside state partners and relief organizations to get food and water to neighbors, with more distributions planned in the days ahead.
The Feeding America network had emergency supplies staged across the Southeast before the storm arrived. So far, Feeding America and food banks on the ground are deploying 18 truckloads of water and disaster supplies to impacted communities. Now, food banks are moving them to where they’re needed most.
The Feeding America response will continue for the long haul – as communities begin to clean up and rebuild, food banks will be there, providing food and critical supplies to neighbors.
