This is the third year in a row that ADP has donated $500,000 to Feeding America. The funds will be used to provide food to various food banks across the country that help feed more than four million Americans each week.
"At this time of economic concern for so many throughout the country, it's hard to imagine a better way to give back than to help in the fight against hunger," said Gary Butler, Chief Executive Officer of ADP."Our company has a long tradition of giving back to the communities where our associates live and work, including through many local food drives. Today, we continue our efforts to support the good work and mission of Feeding America."
Feeding America's network of more than 200 food banks serves all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, securing and distributing more than 2.5 billion pounds of food and grocery products annually. Those member food banks support approximately 61,000 local charitable agencies and 70,000 programs, which provide food directly to individuals and families in need. ADP's $500,000 donation will help Feeding America provide food to 37 million low-income people facing hunger in the United States.
"Hunger is a daily reality for some – it is not limited to urban areas, rural areas or any given region in the country," said Vicki Escarra, president and CEO of Feeding America."It is a national crisis and with the generosity of ADP we can make a difference and help support our network of more than 200 food banks."
Across the board, food banks are witnessing an increased need for food as 1 in 6 Americans experience hunger as a reality in their daily lives. Some food banks are even reporting that they are now providing emergency food to people who were once donors. There are more than 35 million Americans at risk of hunger and the number is growing every day.
