About the Role:

The Senior Manager, Foundation Relations will lead the Foundation Relations team and be personally responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a seven-figure portfolio of private foundations, corporations and government funding sources and will be key in helping secure additional funding to meet unprecedented levels of hunger in Atlanta and North Georgia. In this role, the Senior Manager, Foundation Relations will work in partnership with program, operations and development staff and senior leaders at the Food Bank to develop strong, well-written proposals and reports. Supervised by the Director of Institutional Giving, the Senior Manager, Foundation Relations will manage relationships with high-net-worth funders, increase the number of potential funders and will lead a team responsible for securing $4M-$5M in institutional funding each year as an integral part of the Food Bank’s strategic plan. The Senior Manager, Foundation Relations will work closely with the Foundation Relations and Corporate Giving teams and the Director of Institutional Giving to identify potential, current and former institutional grant funders ready to begin or increase their giving

Proposal Management:

Write and submit major funding requests for general operating and program-specific funding each year
Responsible for conducting and managing the Foundation Relations team’s full range of activities required to prepare and submit grant and funding proposals to private and corporate foundations, civic and religious groups, and governmental bodies. Lead complex government grant proposals.
Manage all Feeding America proposals, awards and reports
Lead the build out of annual cases for support and boilerplate language to be used by the wider Development Department donor communications
Relationship and Prospect Management:

Oversee a portfolio of institutional funders with annual giving capacities of mid-five and six-figure gifts
Work independently to establish, maintain and deepen relationships with current, past and prospective institutional funders
Conduct regular site visits, informal visits, touchpoints and check ins, and other forms of cultivation and stewardship activities with portfolio of current, past and prospective funders
Foster strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including the Food Bank’s programmatic and operational staff, donors, Feeding America colleagues and staff from food banks across Georgia
Assist Corporate Relations team to support institutional mid-level giving program
Programmatic Understanding and Reporting:

Lead the Foundation Relations team’s work within the Food Bank to develop a deep understanding of the status of programs and projects as well as working closely with the program staff to ensure that outcomes/reporting data are gathered in an organized and timely manner.
Write and assume primary responsibility that all Foundation Relations grant, programmatic and financial reports are submitted to funders
Lead statewide data collection and reporting on joint grants among Georgia food banks as needed
Collaborate with Finance, Business Intelligence and Program teams to collect and maintain programmatic and organizational metrics for use in creating compelling reports, proposals and donor communication pieces
Make recommendations for prospective funding alignment
Process Maintenance, Improvement and Leadership:

Ensure that all proposal and grant report submission schedules are up to date and all related deadlines met
Set annual Foundation Relations team performance targets, and plan and execute activities to achieve the same
Track the Foundation Relations team’s fundraising progress, generate required financial and activity reports and provide oversight to ensure all required metrics are met and documented in the CRM
Adhere to established business rules for data management, documentation, and CRM usage. Recommend improvements to existing rules as needed.
Responsible for the daily management of the current Foundation Relations Manager I position and any future roles in the Foundation Relations team
Strategic Planning:

In partnership with the Director, build out an annual moves management strategy for Foundation Relations team
Lead in the build out of Strategic Initiatives to support the Institutional Giving Team and the broader Development team
In partnership with the Director, build out the annual fundraising budget for foundations, civic, religious and government giving. Advise the Director on giving trends of grants from the different channels in order for the organization to make informed decisions

What You’ll Need: Skills and Experience your resume should demonstrate:

Prior experience writing and managing mid five and six figure grants and/or funding proposals
Have at least three years of experience managing a high performing team in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
Demonstrated ability of leading the build out of compelling proposals and reports by working across organizational lines, leveraging data and incorporating a client-driven voice
History of developing and executing personal and team-focused moves management plans and donor stewardship strategies
Demonstrated ability in preparing, submitting and managing complex government grants.
Skilled in strategic planning with a focus on enacting organizational and team-based priorities and responsibilities
Ability to use donor data management systems or other CRMs, with a preference for Raiser’s Edge NXT
Ability to maintain highly confidential and proprietary information
Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Self-starting with a strong ability to work independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
