Interactive Tools

We live in a dynamic world and should use data in interactive ways in order to understand the complex relationship between food insecurity and related factors.

Interactive data visuals help us answer the important questions. For example, how many food insecure people in my county are not eligible for assistance programs?

Or, how does child food insecurity relate to children’s access to healthcare and insurance across different states and counties?
We’re working to bring you the tools you need to explore the relationships between these important issues and inform how you design programs and advocate for policies that address food insecurity.

New visualizations make food insecurity data accessible

To explore the issue of hunger, we are producing a series of interactive data tools that leverage the only source of local food insecurity data, Map the Meal Gap. By exploring how hunger intersects with related issues, such as unemployment, healthcare, and public benefits, we unlock insights about how to best address food insecurity. Access the companion brief for each visualization to learn how to leverage the tools in your own work.

Changes in poverty and unemployment have impacts on food insecurity
