A proposal to change the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to a block grant-based system is drawing criticism from food banks and the American Soybean Association which has a longstanding opposition to reopening the complex farm bill.

Feeding America partner has increased their involvement to fight hunger by pledging to donate all unsold, safe product to food banks. The new program called "FoodShare" is a good fit as Feeding America already has the infrastructure to support these new donations.
