As Senior Vice President, Governance and Special Programs at Feeding America, Claire Wellington coordinates all aspects of board governance, including board and committee meeting preparation, director recruitment and nominating, and board communication. She is also responsible for the effective operation of the Feeding America Executive Office, which includes working closely the CEO and President to facilitate senior leadership working groups responsible for Feeding America strategy development and execution.
Claire joined Feeding America in 2017 after spending 12 years at Independent Sector, where her most recent role was Senior Vice President of Board Governance and Special Projects. In this role, she supported the CEO’s management of the board of directors and executive committee and managed special projects. She also served as the Interim Co-CEO during a time of transition and in this capacity, oversaw functions of the finance and human resources teams.
Prior to Independent Sector, Claire served as Vice President and General Counsel at the American Association of Exporters and Importers and worked at the U.S. Department of the Treasury as the Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor with the enforcement division.
Claire holds a bachelor's degree in government from Smith College, a master's degree in international affairs from Columbia University, and a law degree from Harvard Law School.
