Description

The employee is responsible for assisting the TEFAP Team in the recruitment, training, and compliance oversight of new Maryland Food Bank (MFB) TEFAP partners identified through regionally designated geographic areas of high need. Employee will assess the strength and make-up of our existing TEFAP network, making sure it is complimentary and in alignment with regional needs, partnership guidelines, and compliance standards. Employee will be responsible for training both new and existing TEFAP partners in accordance with Feeding America (FA), Federal (DHS) and State (USDA) guidelines, supporting additional needs of the TEFAP program related to operational requirements and efficiencies; food safety and distribution, food storage and handling, data integrity; recordkeeping and reporting.

Job responsibilities

60% Recruitment/Training/Compliance: In collaboration with RPDs, lead activities related to the recruitment of prospective Maryland Food Bank TEFAP partners and facilitate onboarding trainings in partnership with the TEFAP Compliance Manager and TEFAP Training & Compliance Coordinator. Contribute to all activities related to the required training of existing Maryland Food Bank TEFAP Partners, ensuring compliance with Maryland Food Bank, FA, DHS, and USDA guidelines including assessing TEFAP partner needs and following-up on recommendations for support; including Maryland Food Bank sponsored TEFAP annual Civil Rights compliance and food safety trainings.

40% Administrative/Partner Support: Supports maintenance of departmental files according to Maryland Food Bank, FA, DHS, and USDA documentation guidelines. Supports RPD’s in reaching regional partnership needs. Supports team with meeting TEFAP product distribution goals with continued emphasis on systems improvement through training. Provides technical assistance to TEFAP partners related to membership with the Maryland Food Bank including TEFAP requirements and processes; not limited to monthly reporting and record keeping.

The following are non-essential functions of the position:
• Represents the Maryland Food bank at meetings and other related functions, as necessary.
• Assist in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Application qualifications

Education: Four-year degree in a related area or equivalent combination of education and experience strongly preferred.
Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in a customer-service management-related role, plus three (3) years leadership experience.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including developing and delivering presentations. Goal-oriented with a strategic mindset and ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. Experience in project management from initiating and planning to executing, tracking, following up on issues and reporting. Proven success in leading the development and implementation of process improvements. Excellent interpersonal, networking, and problem-solving skills. Strong customer focus. Proven success in managing and motivating others. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Navision is a plus.

Additional information

Work Environment: The employee will carry out job duties from inside a professional office environment with little fluctuation in temperatures and low noise. Employee may carry out job duties outdoors, in the field, at TEFAP partner site locations across the Central, Southern, Northern and Western Regions of the State. For offsite duties, the employee is expected to travel by automobile and will be exposed to changing weather and noise conditions.

Travel: Significant local travel of 2-3 days per week is expected to successfully perform this role. A valid driver’s license is required as well as an MVR showing no prior DUI/DWI’s and fewer than 2 points against the license. The ability to read, write and speak English is required.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, traveling has been moderately reduced. During activities and events requiring the need to travel, safety measures (social distancing & mask-wearing) must be adhered to for all occasions.
