The primary purpose and responsibility of the Special Events Manager (SEM) is the planning, implementation and execution of the Fitness for Hunger, Empty Bowls and f.r.e.s.h. young professionals appeals within the Annual Giving and Events program. The position provides leadership and support to event chairs and committee members, solicits in-kind and monetary events gifts, managers communication strategies, and oversees revenue and expenses.
Bachelors degree in Liberal Arts, Business Administration or related field. Minimum of 2 years work experience directly related to events planning, fundraising and/or donor cultivation. Detailed knowledge of special events and/or fundraising techniques required. Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook. Raiser's Edge and/or Luminate Online preferred but not required.
Demonstrated ability to work closely with volunteer committees and/or event chairs and donors to establish, maintain and strengthen relationships. Work nights, weekends, and holidays as required. Willingness to travel and work outside of the office as necessary. Ability to coordinate well with people from a variety of backgrounds. Strong customer service skills and willingness to assist others. Able to communicate complex information clearly. Attentive to detail. Excellent leadership skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Able to coordinate well with other departments and personnel.
