Prospect Development Manager

Maintains close working relationships with the Individual Giving/Major Gifts team, the Corporate/Foundation team, and others to support fundraising plans targeting individuals, corporations, foundations, and organizations.
The PDM will drive the Moves Management process, including analysis and identification of prospects for assignment and un-assignment to both regular and discovery portfolios, frequent review of portfolio performance, and monitoring of progress towards relevant KPIs.
Time will be divided as needed between Portfolio Moves Management and Prospect Research, supporting both Annual Giving and the Capital Campaign.
The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for the mission and be able to translate that into a well-developed cultivation program to support the Food Depository and the development department’s equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.

Job responsibilities

Moves Management:
· Maintain, update, and administer our moves/portfolio management system to drive cultivation and solicitation strategies for donors and prospects
· Lead Portfolio review meetings
· Contribute information and insights to strategy meetings
· Provide training, and on-going coaching to relationship managers in the use of dynamic portfolios, including assignment and un-assignment of prospects on a regular basis
· Collaborate with the individual giving team to refine, analyze, and refresh discovery portfolios on an on-going basis.
· Ensure that prospect data is up-to-date, accurate, and properly documented
· Monitor and report on portfolios and performance metrics
· Contribute to strategy sessions with the development and campaign teams, providing information to facilitate the forward movement of prospect relationships

Prospect Research:
· Proactively identify major, corporate and campaign gift prospects through research on prospective donors, corporations, and foundations
· Provide timely response to multiple requests from relationship managers for information to support the cultivation and development of existing relationships
· Produce prospect profiles and briefings based on analysis of wealth, philanthropy, interests, and engagement using the donor database and external sources
· Provide relevant alerts to development team by using news/web content services to track developments in the careers and lives of key donors and prospects
· Supervise and coach the prospect development coordinator in the performance of research related activities, and other tasks
· Other duties as assigned

Application qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s preferred
· Three to five years of experience in Moves Management and Portfolio Support
· Three to five years of research and/or development experience
· Previous experience in a Capital Campaign preferred
· Strong sense of discretion, confidentiality, and an ethical approach to fundraising
· Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously, with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Tact, diplomacy, and ability to work effectively with a variety of people
· Ability to interpret and translate financial data
· Highly collaborative, preferably with experience working as part of remote teams
· Demonstrated ability to initiate and perform complex analyses and organize information to identify philanthropic patterns, tendencies and relationships among individuals, corporations, and foundations
· Intermediate to advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, SharePoint, and PowerPoint)
· Knowledgeable about and committed to core Greater Chicago Food Depository values and able to demonstrate and communicate those values to others
· Experience using fundraising databases and research tools: Raiser’s Edge, RE/NXT, ResearchPoint & Luminate Online preferred, experience with the Microsoft common data model is a plus
