This is a One (1) year full time opportunity with benefits after 60 days.

The Government Programs Warehouse Specialist is responsible for storing, staging and packing USDA food products. This role works closely with our Government Programs team and volunteers to receive shipments of USDA product and to pull and distribute USDA product orders for our partner agencies. May train and direct volunteer workers to accomplish work.

Job responsibilities

Essential Functions:
• Receives shipments of USDA product, including inspecting loads for food safety, unloading truck trailers, and communicating receiving details to Government Inventory Lead
• Staging received product in the appropriate inventory bins
• Responsible for keeping order picking locations full including restacking and rearranging product for maximum efficiency
• Ensure and perform timely pulling of TEFAP orders in order of importance
• Check all orders to verify accuracy
• Restock product as needed following specific food storage guidelines
• Monitor picking area, making sure that only designated people are present, i.e. FBR staff and volunteers
• Verify pick and inventory bins and work with Government Inventory Lead to ensure accuracy
• Assists in maintaining accurate inventory counts
• Organizes order delivery staging area to ensure delivery drivers can access product quickly and efficiently
• Inspects the warehouse daily to ensure all orders have been delivered / picked up on time
• Restocking any returned orders or items
• Maintaining the warehouse in a neat, clean and orderly manner
• Train and manage volunteers for TEFAP order pulling procedures; reinforce safe work behavior of volunteers
• Secure warehouse at end of each shift and at end of work day
• Maintain warehouse according to Feeding America and AIB standards
• Follow all safety guidelines and regulations
• Perform light equipment and facility maintenance and repairs, as needed
• Train and manage volunteers for our CSFP senior food box production, as needed
• Perform timely pulling of CSFP orders, as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Application qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Prior experience working in a warehouse/manufacturing environment preferred
• Forklift certification preferred, but not required
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language fluently, and communicate verbally and in writing at a professional level
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel and Outlook and warehouse management systems a plus

Work Environment:
• Standing and walking throughout the shift; sitting intermittently
• Uses heavy equipment on a daily basis including forklift, stand up/sit down lift truck, step up pallet jack and automatic pallet jack
• Ability to push and pull up to 2,000 lb. pallets with a manual pallet jack
• Warehouse environment, temperatures may vary (hot/cold)
• Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, crouch or crawl, talk or hear
• Use specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
