JOB SUMMARY: Consult and train food pantries and kitchens in various health initiatives. Serve as the main nutrition resource for Harvesters and member agencies by providing nutrition and cooking programs, classes, workshops, webinars, trainings, recipes and educational materials.

Job responsibilities

• Manage, create, and evaluate Harvesters’ current nutrition education curricula including Project
Strength, Teen EATS, and Kids in the Kitchen for both staff and Train the Teacher models.
• Build and enhance relationships with agencies. Engage community partners and general public of Harvesters’ mission and strategy through presentations. Serve as liaison to community resources for agency.
• Collaborate with acquisitions department to purchase, track, and provide healthful items for entire network in our agency online ordering system.
• Collaborate with inventory process to identify products’ nutrition analysis information for agency online ordering system.
• Oversee the Healthy Program Partnership, a program that consultants with area food pantries and kitchens on various health and nutrition initiatives.
• Manage and co-create a tailored, comprehensive database tracking statistical information on nutrition programs.
• Direct the development of tasty, healthful and cost-effective recipes suitable for use in nutrition programs and distribution to food pantries and kitchens.
• Collaborate with all departments at Harvesters to provide program-specific food, nutrition and/or safe food handling information.
• Develop Harvesters demonstration garden as a tool to educate agencies about nutritious fresh food and connect agencies wanting to start a community garden with knowledge and resources.
• Run operations of demonstration kitchen.
• Balance and manage department budget.
• Perform other duties as required.

• The position sometimes requires hours outside of the traditional workday.
• Use of general office equipment and software such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Google Drive.
It requires heavy lifting (20 – 50 pounds) 5% of the time and light lifting (5 – 10 pounds) 5% of the time.
• This position requires an understanding and compliance of all Harvesters food safety policies.
• Excellent presentation writing and delivery skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Dynamic self-starter, with a high level of coordination with people.

Non-Profit experience working in community based services
Experience with computers and programs including Microsoft Office Suite required.

Preferred Experience
• Non-Profit management experience
• Background in Public Health, Social Work, or Nutrition
• 2-5 years documented community nutrition work
• Public speaking proficiency
• Comfortable managing an assertive team of professionals
Minimum of 2 years nutrition experience

Required Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Social Work, or related field.

Preferred Education
• Master’s Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Social Work, or related field.
