Food access programs procure food in a variety of ways, including ordering items offered on the Food Depository’s menu and rescuing food from retailers across Cook County.  This role focuses on increasing engagement in the retail food rescue programs that connects partners with retailers in their area and across cook county in an equitable and justice-focused way: Agency-Enabled Food Rescue and Agency-Enabled Plus. The Manager of Agency Enabled will assist in development of program specifics, communication and on-boarding strategy of partners onto the AE/AE+ program.  The role will work with partners to understand their capacity to pick up and distribute these goods to partner programs throughout Cook County in an equitable and efficient manner.

Job responsibilities

-Develop a strong knowledge of current guidelines and regulations of food program administration
-Connect agencies with programming and resources to build capacity to distribute food effectively and efficiently to individuals in Cook County
-Conduct data collection in alignment with the Research & Evaluation team to understand each partner’s need and capacity to receive additional food product through the Agency-Enabled Food Rescue program in a strategic and equitable manner.
-Working in alignment with the Sr Manager of AE, Manager of Food Access and the Senior Manager of Research & Evaluation, to conduct data analysis to identify partner programs with the capacity to receive product through Agency-Enabled Food Rescue.
-Use existing data collection tools to gather input from partners on how Agency-Enabled Food Rescue can meet their needs.
-Assist in Engaging in frequent communication with partners to ensure capacity to accept food through Agency-Enabled Food Rescue.
-Conduct site visits to evaluate partner capacity needs (as needed).
-Manage the strategy to move from a traditional Food Rescue model (Food Depository performing rescue) to an all Agency-Enabled model (partners performing rescue).
-Develop and manage an in-depth understanding of the geographic onboarding strategy and the resources available to agencies to make the transition to best match partners with the resources they need.
-Guide programs through the process of onboarding to the Agency-Enabled programs, ensuring they have adequate certification, cold storage, and volunteer support to perform Agency-Enabled Food Rescue. 
-Provide monthly pulse checks on the progress of the transition to ensure the project is on-track and to show geographically how the transition is moving.  
-Support partners who participate in the Agency-Enabled Food Rescue program.
-Provide in-person and telephonic support to partners, as needed.
-Create innovative feedback mechanisms to ensure timely data collection from programs within the Food Depository’s network of food access partners.
-Provide monthly reporting to the Director of Food Access on program participation and achievements.  
-Collaborate with staff from all departments to create innovative solutions to increase food security throughout Cook County
-Manage retail performance results and prioritize stores
-Agency-enabled quality assurance verifications
-Meal Connect Platform Management

Application qualifications

-Bachelor’s Degree required and 5+ years of relevant experience in social services, community outreach and development, and/or project management 
-Strong interpersonal & customer service skills required, with an ability to communicate clearly, diplomatically, and persuasively
-Strong problem-solving skills required, with an ability to think creatively to resolve issues
-Strong organizational skills required, with an ability to collaborate across departments, prioritize and plan workflows, and manage time 
-Must have a car, driver’s license, and valid insurance
-Proficiency in MS Office applications: basic proficiency in Excel, basic proficiency in PowerPoint, intermediate proficiency in Word and intermediate proficiency in Outlook
