We are seeking a HR Manager in our Geneva office to provide both tactical leadership for Northern Illinois Food Bank. This position reports directly to the Chief People Officer and will play a critical role in the leadership development of the front-line management team and overall talent development strategy. The role will support in maintaining a steady flow of information and help between all team members. This is a critical customer service role that supports both the local and extended teams with top-notch Human Resources expertise and guidance. In this role, you will utilize experience and expertise to solve problems, develop our talent, execute objectives, and impact both short-term and long-term business goals. Job responsibilities

The Human Resource Manager promotes and supports positive, pro-active employee relations by providing and initiating a variety of employee services, activities and communication vehicles. Provides the employees and management team with valuable feedback through daily interactions, counseling, coaching, and reporting various personnel actions. Supports in all functional areas of HR including employee relations, staffing, payroll, compensation and benefits, performance management, training, FMLA administration, regulatory compliance and labor relations to ensure the operating unit’s goals and objectives are achieved.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides advice and counsel to employees to ensure consistent application and integration of policies, procedures, and practices.
• Works with HRG to ensure benefits program is communicated in effective manner and understood by team members;
• In collaboration with HR Generalist, administer bi-weekly payroll processes as it relates to all pay changes being entered into ADP WorkforceNow timely and accurately
• Works with the Chief People Officer to ensure compliance, and claim response for EEOC, FMLA, Code of Conduct, Discrimination, Harassment and other legal/policy issues
• Develops reports and provides key metrics to CPO on HR department activity (turnover, retention, training and development, etc.)
• Works closely with Chief People Officer to ensure seamless execution of major annual employee events; performance and goal setting, healthcare open enrollment, seasonal staffing
• Training and Development:
· Identify training needs across the organization by conducting an annual needs assessment and proposing annual strategy to Chief People Officer
· Leads front line manager training to ensure these leaders are equipped with appropriate skills and tools to consistently apply company policies and enable open communication and employee satisfaction
• Oversees execution around quarterly new hire event and annual performance review and goal setting
• Oversees administration behind merit and incentive (employee communication, reports and letters)
• Conducts new hire and exit interviews and provides survey and trend data to Chief People Officer
• Works with Health and Safety Officer to foster a culture of safety awareness by supporting the Safety Committee, ensuring timely documentation and reporting of incidents and leading training and awareness initiatives
• Maintains employee handbook to include Policy research, development and recommendation to leadership

Application qualifications

Required Education, Skills, and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Communications, Business or related field desired or equivalent work experience
• 3+ years progressive Human Resources Generalist experience
• Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Strong organization and communication skills, ability to multi-task while paying attention to detail and working in a high volume, fast paced environment.
• Demonstrated professional success in FMLA administration, benefits administration, payroll administration, recruitment and associate relations.
• Possess accurate and updated knowledge of Federal and State laws applicable to wages, ACA, hours, working conditions, safety, DOT etc. to ensure compliance with state and federal legal requirements.
• Ability to balance role as employee advocate and business partner while maintaining neutrality and credibility with the organization.
• Individual must demonstrate integrity, flexibility, sound judgment, and strong intuitive skills.
• A reliable car, current driver's license and safe driving record required.
Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience
SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.
