The Central Texas Food Bank is looking for a FOOD PROCUREMENT MANAGER in our Food Sourcing Department within the Operations team. This position will manage the procurement function in finding quality food at acceptable pricing that meets CTFB’s organizational needs. Reporting to the Food Sourcing Director on the Food Sourcing team, this position will have a direct impact on CTFB’s ability to supply desired food products at the lowest cost to our network of agencies and programs.

Job responsibilities


Select, hire, train, develop and supervise direct reports
Purchase food goods for CTFB core inventory programs through bidding processes and negotiations
Oversee a portfolio of food industry donors, stewarding relationships to increase donations and provide excellent customer service
Foster relationships with local food vendors
Work cross-functionally to monitor inventory, identify trends, and ensure a variety of nutritious, high-demand, low-cost items remain in stock
Manage all item cards, purchase orders, donations orders in CERES database
Establish a yearly forecast plan based on poundage goals
Establish produce goals by season
Work with federal & state agencies to maintain inventory and delivery processes
Coordinate with Transportation and Warehouse teams on donation pickup and delivery
Track inventory and product aging through the warehouse management system
Manage mutually beneficial partnerships and on-going communications with other food banks through the Feeding America and Texas Food Bank Network
Manage all food requests offered by USDA and/or Feeding America and Texas Food Bank Network
Manage all food grants and provide yearly documentation for all spending to the grants team

Application qualifications

You are a great candidate if you have:
Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Major course work in food service procurement, inventory management or a related field preferred
Experience with Microsoft Office suite including strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with Ceres preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with organizational purchasing
Established network of vendors and manufacturers
Knowledge of food systems environment
Strong organizational skills and practices
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven demonstration of good judgement and discretion
Strong leadership and team building acumen
A valid government issued driver’s license
Bonus points for:
Certification as a Certified Supply Chain Professional and/or Certified in Planning and Inventory Management
Experience managing departmental or organizational budget
Organizing and managing multiple projects under aggressive timelines
