Description

This position performs sanitation and light maintenance duties in and around our facilities: troubleshoots, performs minor repairs, and responds to emergency calls; implements set up and takedown for a wide variety of food bank and community events; works closely with employees and the public to meet the custodial needs of the area; and resolves problems to ensure efficient and safe operations. Assigns duties to day laborers and monitors their activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

70% Custodial: Oversees and assists the sanitation and safety schedule in the warehouse, equipment, and building grounds. Use and maintain assigned equipment, floor scrubber, and hand tools. Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools on an incidental basis. Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs in areas within sixteen feet of buildings. Operate a forklift, power equipment or hand-operated tools. Assist with pest control activities. Help to maintain a safe and secure building.

30% Maintenance: Completes the sanitation and safety schedule in the warehouse, equipment, and building grounds. Use and maintain assigned equipment and hand tools. Implements setup and takedown for a wide variety of Food Bank and community events. Essential Working Conditions
Work Environment
The employee will carry out the job duties from a warehouse environment with great fluctuation in temperatures and noise. Will be required to work in unheated or non-air-conditioned areas and under inclement weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, use hand held or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Application qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED strongly preferred.

Experience: At least 2 years’ experience in a facilities role is preferred. The ability to read, write and speak English is required. Forklift experience preferred.
