Description

Employee is responsible for supporting the Mobile Market Program Manager and Mobile Market Program Coordinator with the safe handling and distribution of food through the Mobile Market Program. Employee will play an active role in ensuring the Mobile Market is loaded according to order, will transport product to pre-assigned locations in a timely manner, offload product while fostering a positive identity for the Maryland Food Bank (MFB), engaging community partners, and supporting the effective distribution of food to areas of need.

Job responsibilities

Experience: Experience operating a non-CDL box truck is preferred - training will be provided by the MFB and is required. At least three (3) years of experience in a customer-service related role. Interpersonal, networking, and problem-solving skills. Strong customer focus. The ability to read, write and speak English is required.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
60% Transportation: Safely drive MFB vehicle and transport food orders to assigned site locations at pre-scheduled delivery times. Responsible for maintaining all food safety & occupational safety requirements.

40% Logistics: Ensure truck has been loaded with food order prior to leaving the warehouse facility. Upon arrival to site location, help clients to shop Mobile Market, or offload pre-boxed product using strong customer service skills. Ensure appropriate signatures are obtained at site locations. Maintain accurate daily vehicle inspection logs.

Essential Working Conditions:
Work Environment
The employee will carry out some of job duties from a warehouse environment with fluctuation in temperature and potential for loud noise. Employee will also carry out job duties in the field, outdoors at mobile market site locations across 4 regions: Northern, Southern, Western and Baltimore City. For offsite duties, the employee is expected to travel by Mobile Market vehicle and will be exposed to changing weather and noise conditions.

Travel:
Travel of 2-3 days per week is expected to successfully perform this role. A valid driver’s license is required as well as an MVR showing no prior DUI/DWI’s and fewer than 2 points against the license.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, during activities and events requiring the need to travel, safety measures must be adhered to for all occasions.

Non-Essential Functions:
The following are non-essential functions of the position:
• Assist in loading/unloading Mobile Market vehicle
• Represent the Maryland Food Bank at related functions, as necessary
• Perform other duties as requested.

Application qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Combination of education and experience will be considered.
