Description

The Director of IT is a strategic thinker that provides technical direction to members of the organization including identifying, recommending, developing, implementing, and supporting cost-effective, outcome based technology solutions for all aspects of the business plan. This position supports the organization’s goals by aligning technology with business strategy and integrating company processes with the appropriate technology solutions based on the business needs of Three Square.

The Director is responsible for the strategic direction of all information technology utilized by the Food Bank including computer equipment, networking, data reporting and management systems, software services, telecommunications and decision support reporting systems.

Job responsibilities

• Responsible for implementation, and management of strategic and tactical technology plans, policies, procedures, and standards to support business goals and objectives.
• Responsible for the support, monitoring, management, maintenance, reporting, and accuracy of multiple information and communications systems and projects, including servers, voice, data, and operational/office automation.
• Supervise Desktop Support Specialist to provide excellent internal customer service.
• Develop, monitor and achieve Information System budget goals.
• Responsible for the acquisition, support, maintenance and inventory of technology systems.
• Develop and maintain Information Systems policies and procedures including application specific documentation/FAQ/how-to guides.
• Plan, develop, coordinate, and conduct technology based training courses, as well as provide ‘as needed’ training on MS Office products and other data base applications.
• Responsible for the acquisition, support, maintenance and inventory of technology systems.
• Manage confidential information.
• Regular and consistent attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Working Environment

Work is typically performed in an office environment while sitting at a computer screen for extended periods. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts when working with office machines. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms when working with documents, files, computers, or office machines. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, crouch, or kneel when working with files. May lift, move and carry objects from 20 to 40 pounds, such as boxes containing office and other supplies. Technology Manager may work during evenings or weekends.

Application qualifications

Experience and Educations

Requires Bachelors degree in computer technology, business or other related field; minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in a technology management role; strong project management experience; administration and management expertise of a Windows Server environment. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Preferred Experience: VMWare, SharePoint, Programming (VBA, Mobile development), and Report Writer.

Knowledge

Administration and Management: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

Customer and Personal Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

English Language: Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.

Mathematics: Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

Communications and Media: Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.

Skills

Basic Skills: Critical thinking, basic math to include adding, subtracting, multiplication and division. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondences and emails. Must possess strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.

Social Skills: Ability to express thoughts or ideas in a clear and concise message; actively listen to others and demonstrate understanding of other points of view. Consistently provide ideas, opinions, or information in an articulate, professional way. Must have ability to maintain constructive relationships, demonstrate respect for everyone and have experience working with diverse populations. Must be able to effectively work in a team atmosphere in addition to face-to-face interaction with potential contributors and volunteers.

Resource Management Skills: Excellent time management skills; ability to set and meet deadlines, work independently and as part of the Three Square team.

Critical Thinking Skills: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Active Listening Skills: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

Systems Analysis Skills: Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.

Other: Safe driving record, current vehicle insurance and the ability to use their personal vehicle for business at off-site locations. Employee must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.
