The Direct Service Program Manager is responsible for the leadership and execution of direct service programs, ensuring adherence to best practices, quality of care, and maintaining the highest professional standards. The successful candidate will maintain positive morale and unit cohesion as evidenced by maintaining a cooperative and flexible attitude toward coworkers, showing adaptability to change, and exhibiting effective communication and interpersonal skills. Strong time management skills and the ability to handle competing priorities is essential. This position requires approximately 30% field work. Current direct service programs include Senior Food Program, Food Assistance Program, Food for Children, Farm 2 Kids, Extra Helpings, Community Produce Program, School Pantry Program, Mobile Food Pharmacy, and Harvest to Home.
• Lead the Direct Service program staff in the execution of their duties to achieve the organization’s mission, goals and objectives.
• Evaluate existing direct service programs for efficacy and compliance and successfully execute changes as needed.
• Coordinate monthly food orders and the warehouse distribution schedule with the Warehouse Manager and program staff.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with government and foundation funders.
• Set agendas, schedule, and facilitate meetings with county and community partners.
• Visit direct service program sites regularly and ensure proper staffing at distributions, occasionally providing backup coverage as needed.
• Compile reports, ensuring accuracy/integrity of data from all sources.
• Maintains an awareness and understanding of poverty and hunger in the local community by assessing community needs and growing and innovating existing programs and piloting new programs to address those needs.
• Coordinate with the Communications Department to determine volunteer needs and program-specific communications.
• Coordinate with direct service program staff to disseminate schedule changes to Food Bank staff.
• Assist the Program Director and Accounting team in allocating funding for special grant food purchases.
• Coordinate representation at community meetings (currently Families CAN, Healthy and Active Before 5, Food and Nutrition Network of Solano County, CC HIV/AIDS Consortium).
• Other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience in program development and administration. A minimum of 2 years of direct supervisory experience required. Budget preparation, planning and management experience including government grants is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is helpful but not required.
• Proven track record working in a collaborative team environment with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
• Strong knowledge of project management principles including development and coordination of plans, communication, collaboration, budget, and time management.
• Self-starter with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and creative problem solving.
• Experience evaluating processes and making strategic recommendations to increase effectiveness.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline driven role.
• Valid CA driver’s license and insurance and ability to be covered under the Food Bank’s auto insurance policy.
• Significant level of proficiency with MS Office. Must be competent working with Google docs. Familiarity with inventory software is a plus.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
