In partnership with the Board of Directors and Executive Director, the Director of Development is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies and an annual fundraising plan supporting South Texas Food Bank’s mission and goals. This includes, but is not limited to, identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporate and foundation gifts, major individual gifts, planned giving, special events, grant writing, and direct mail.
Collaborates with the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, the
Development Committee, and other senior leaders to develop and implement
fundraising and program strategies to reach annual organizational revenue
requirements and build a reserve to support future organizational growth.
Develops, manages and evaluates all fundraising activities to ensure annual
revenue goals are achieved, including supervision of all development staff.
Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards’ donors and prospective donors;
actively manages a portfolio of approximately XXX donors and prospective
Develops and executes a comprehensive donor cultivation and stewardship plan.
Oversees the preparation and submission of grant applications and other funding
proposals as required to meet fund development goals.
Oversees the planning and execution of fundraising events.
Oversees administration of the donor database. Utilizes donor reports and data
to inform fundraising strategies and maximize revenue.
Evaluates the effectiveness of fundraising activities and programs. Develops and
implements innovative strategies for continuous improvement of fundraising
strategies and operations.
Coordinates direct mail activities with third party fundraising firm to maximize
direct mail revenue opportunities.
Coordinates the design, publication, and distribution of marketing and
communication materials for resource development purposes.
Builds and maintains relationships with key community stakeholders to advance
the mission and resource development goals of the organization. Attends
community and networking events to promote the organization. Serves as a
spokesperson for South Texas Food Bank as appropriate or assigned.
Serves as a member of the senior management team at South Texas Food Bank
to help shape organizational strategy.

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
A minimum of five years’ experience in fund development for a nonprofit organization
A successful track record of identification, cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation of
major gifts and increased annual gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations
Outstanding written, verbal, public speaking, and interpersonal skills, must be bilingual
(English & Spanish)
Demonstrated excellence in organizational and managerial skills
Experience managing and analyzing donor data to improve fundraising outcomes
Full computer proficiency with standard Microsoft Office programs including PowerPoint
Proficiency with fundraising and communications software
Passion for South Texas Food Bank’s mission
Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation
Previous experience in a senior leadership position at a nonprofit organization

The salary range for this position is $70,000 – 75,000, depending on experience and
