Description

The Development Coordinator is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies and an annual fundraising and marketing plan in support of West Ohio Food Bank’s mission and strategic plan. This includes, but is not limited to, identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of corporate and foundation gifts, major individual gifts, planned giving, special events, grant writing and direct mail. Serves as a member of the Leadership Team and participates in the strategic planning process and implementation.

Job responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Collaborates with the CEO, the Board of Directors, and other leadership team members to develop and implement fundraising and program strategies to reach annual organizational revenue requirements and build a reserve to support future organizational growth.

Develops, manages and evaluates all fundraising activities to ensure annual revenue goals are achieved.

Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards donors and prospective donors; actively manages a portfolio of approximately 2,000 donors and prospective donors.

Develops and executes a comprehensive donor cultivation and stewardship plan.

Works in conjunction with the CEO/COO in preparation and submission of grant applications and other funding proposals as required to meet fund development goals.

Oversees the planning and execution of fundraising events.

Utilizes donor reports and data to inform fundraising strategies and maximize revenue.

Evaluates the effectiveness of fundraising activities and programs. Develops and implements innovative strategies for continuous improvement of fundraising strategies and operations.

Identifies opportunities, issues and challenges critical to the strategic leadership to the CEO.

Oversees administration of the gift acknowledgement process timely and accurately to improve donor retention.

Development of a planned giving program and promotion of the program.

Builds and maintains relationships with key community stakeholders to advance the mission and resource development goals of the organization. Attends community and networking events within WOFB’s 11-county service area to promote the organization. Performs public speaking engagements and presentations and serves as a spokesperson for West Ohio Food Bank as appropriate or assigned.

Interfaces with the general public, national, regional and local government representatives, other key individuals and contacts.

Networks with other food banks to identify best practice standards and improve outcomes.

Promotes a cooperative spirit within the organization and among internal and external participants.

Provides relationship building and superior customer service to all neighbors and partner organizations.

Responds to and resolve partner requests and concerns.

Travel and work within an 11-county service area within West Central Ohio to fulfill duties and responsibilities.

Attends Feeding America, Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, and Ohio Association of Foodbank seminars and trainings as required.

Submits monthly, quarterly and annual reports to United Way, Ohio Department of Job & Family Services, United States Department of Agriculture, Feeding America, the Ohio Association of Foodbanks, funding sources, and other contract agencies, as required.

• Creates systems to track and comply with all reporting requirements from donors.
• Receives and maintains ServSafe certification.
• Assist as needed in program support, coverage of administrative needs and budget
control.
• Attends network conferences and trainings as offered.
• Ability to withhold confidential matters pertaining to WOFB from external
stakeholders.
• Help with local food distributions as needed.
• Perform other duties/responsibilities that may be requested by the CEO or designee
and WOFB.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

• Experience with donor information management system, Donor Perfect preferred.
• A successful track record of identification, cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation
of major gifts and increased annual gifts from individuals, corporations, and
foundations.
• Experience managing and analyzing donor data to improve fundraising outcomes.
• Outstanding written, verbal, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
• High level of reasoning, with the ability to use judgement and experience to plan
and accomplish goals.
• Ability to effectively manage numerous projects simultaneously and work
independently.
• Ability to build relationships with distribution partners and professional organizations
as critical to effective work.
• Excellent organization, project management, and time management skills with
attention to detail and follow through.
• Customer focused philosophy and proven ability to prioritize, plan and manage
multiple tasks and agendas.
• Excellent relationship building skills with an ability to communicate and work
effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience in areas of strategic planning, programs, operations, and public policy.
• Ability to effectively manage numerous projects simultaneously and work
independently.
• Ability to build relationships with donors and professional organizations.
• Ability to effectively communicate required standards in a style of coaching and
support.
• Ability to work well with other staff in a collaborative effort to improve efficiencies
and effectiveness of the organization.
• Ability to analyze and interpret financial and statistical data and develop appropriate
program and budget frameworks.
• Ability to withhold confidential matters pertaining to WOFB from external
stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel and possession of a valid Ohio motor vehicle license with no
moving violations and insurable.
• Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather
conditions etc.).
• Ability to pass alcohol/drug screening and background checks at hire and randomly
throughout the year.
• Receive and maintain ServSafe certification.
• Advanced Microsoft Office/Excel experience required.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures.
