Position Summary: As the Community Philanthropy Developer - Grants, you will work both independently and collaboratively to inspire, engage and appreciate funders who take philanthropic action with the Oregon Food Bank.
-Manage a portfolio of grant funders with a focus on advocacy/organizing with congressional and state directed spending; develop and cultivate relationships with grant funders, including negotiating awards and/or recognition, while utilizing equity-driven messaging that centers our clients, identifies systemic oppression as hunger’s root cause, and furthers our 10-year vision through an equity lens.
-Strategically engage and retain philanthropic partners to make Oregon Food Bank a political home and facilitate donors’ political journey, and help to foster transformational and regenerative relationship development over time.
-Act as project lead to define goals, objectives, and activities of grant proposals and Letters of Intent (LOI) to ensure accurate representation of program plans to funders.
-Write, submit and manage grant proposals and budgets. Maintains necessary records, files, reports, databases, and resource materials to departmental standard.
-Provide stewardship to current donors, including working with the Community Philanthropy Manager - Grants to provide regular written updates to funders.
-Engage in prospect research for foundation, corporate, and government grants.
-Collaborate with the Advocacy, Volunteer and Organizing Team, particularly on congressional and state funding proposals. Disseminates information on funding opportunities and compliance requirements.
-Partners internally and externally by providing timely and accurate information regarding government funding projects and proposals.
-Collaborate with internal teams and departments to manage narratives and award reporting and other grant administration; coordinate completion of reporting; maintain necessary records, files, reports, databases and pertinent resource materials.
-Create templates, information sources and collateral for the Community Philanthropy Department.
Organizational level responsibilities of exempt employees include:

Skills and Experience of the Ideal Candidate:
-Experience and demonstrated success with effective proposal writing, grants management and/or non-profit fundraising
-Knowledge of effective grant research, grant writing practice; project management techniques; post-award compliance best practices.
-Deep passion for eliminating hunger and its root causes.
-Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to read, comprehend, interpret, communicate and apply government regulations and proposal guidelines to departmental standards.
-Proven ability to conceptualize, research, and draft funding proposals to departmental and Oregon Food Bank standards.
-Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters and a strong sense of ethical conduct to inspire confidence and motivation.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office environment (Word, Excel, Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Hangouts) and standard office equipment.
-Ability to work a flexible schedule including extended weekend, evening and holiday hours as needed.
Organizational level skills and experience for exempt employees include:

-Experience with government, advocacy, or civic engagement proposals.
-Proficiency with a CRM database, preferably Raiser’s Edge.

-Multilingual skills at a minimum professional level of proficiency or greater in English and any additional language/s, defined as being able to speak the languages with sufficient structural accuracy and vocabulary to participate effectively in most formal and informal conversations on practical and professional topics.

HEADQUARTERS 33RD, Portland, OR, US
Applications will be accepted until filled. A cover letter is required for consideration. This role is currently remote through December 2021 and then will be hybrid. The pay range for this role is $56,868-$64,179. In anticipation of the upcoming OSHA Emergency Temporary Standard on COVID-19 Vaccination, proof of COVID vaccination status will be required.
The Fine Print:
Work environment: Work is performed in an office environment while sitting in meetings or at a computer screen for extended
periods inside and outside of Oregon Food Bank and will use computer and phones extensively.
May work outside of general working hours of 8:00 – 5:00 p.m., such as evenings and weekends, and occasional travel out of town may occur. Work may require to lift, move and carry objects from 20 to 40 pounds, such as boxes containing office and other supplies. Crouching, bending, kneeling and reaching when filing. Accommodations may be available upon request.

Mobile Team (or Remote Team): Ensure work continuity working remotely with applicable regular pay.
