The Central Texas Food Bank is looking for a Community Engagement Specialist to join the Events and Partnerships team. As a member of our Community Engagement Department, this position’s responsibility is to develop, coordinate, maintain and evaluate third party partnerships that benefit the Food Bank, primarily peer-to-peer online fundraising campaigns and cause-related marketing campaigns. The position works closely with community partners to identify event and campaign requirements and coordinates the Food Bank’s support including logistical needs, marketing materials, strategy, benchmarking, relationship management and internal coordination with Development, Marketing, Operations and other Food Bank staff.
As Community Engagement Specialist, you will be expected to:
-Recruit, cultivate, coordinate, troubleshoot, steward and renew peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraising campaigns. Some of the Food Bank’s largest peer-to-peer fundraisers currently include: our in-house Corporate Challenge, Amplify Austin and our summer and holiday campaigns. Provide direct donor relations for peer-to-peer fundraisers, strategically growing the impact of online fundraising as an engagement channel for the Food Bank community.
-Serve as liaison with Marketing and Communications team for all P2P technical and promotional needs. Evaluate and report on the return on investment and growth of this fundraising channel.
-Coordinate, cultivate, renew and strategically grow cause-related marketing campaigns benefiting the Food Bank.
-Evaluate incoming partnerships and provide direct donor relations for local and national campaign partners, including Feeding America relationship managers; fulfill marketing deliverables; track revenue; evaluate and report on return on investments and growth of this fundraising channel.
-Coordinate, cultivate, renew and strategically grow a portfolio of mid-level events and partnerships, including food/fund drives and sponsored events.
-Use fundraising database and peer-to-peer fundraising platform to enter, maintain, analyze and report on event and partnership data. Develop and maintain annual strategic plans, policies, procedures, and growth metrics relating to mid-level events and partnerships.
-Support Events & Partnerships annual budget forecasting.
-Support sponsored events, food and fund drives and new partnerships and initiatives to increase revenue and meet community engagement targets.
-Manage regular interdepartmental meetings with Marketing/Communications staff to coordinate event and campaign marketing; ensure marketing deliverables are fulfilled.
-Assist with facility tours, outreach fairs and speaking engagements as needed.
Support other members of the Community Engagement team, assisting with mid-and top-tier events and other assigned duties as needed. Work a flexible schedule that sometimes includes evening and weekend hours (total 40 hours a week).
You are a great candidate if you have
-A minimum of one year of fundraising experience, bonus points if that experience includes peer-to-peer fundraising and/or cause-related marketing campaigns.
-Experience using constituent relationship management or fundraising databases, especially peer-to-peer fundraising software. Bonus points for basic web development skills and experience.
-A desire to be a connector for the generous individuals, groups, companies and organizations involved with the Food Bank’s mission – attentiveness to community partners’ interests and motivations as well as the ability to diplomatically communicate the Food Bank’s requirements and needs so that events and partnerships can be as impactful as possible.
-Motivation to see a high return on investment in everything you do professionally, from the organization you work for to the way you plan your day.
-Outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills including email writing and phone manner.
-Ability to organize and manage multiple projects, setting priorities and working independently under aggressive timelines. Creative problem-solving skills and ability to learn quickly and adapt to shifting constraints and requirements.
-Good judgment and discretion, strong ethical character, ability to preserve donor confidentiality.
-Experience with Microsoft Office suite including strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
-Ability to work independently and cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and external stakeholders representing a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences and communication styles, representing the Food Bank in a professional manner under a variety of conditions.
-Have a high school diploma or equivalent
