Job responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

As the Assistant Manager – Individual Giving, you will work independently to inspire, engage and appreciate community members who take philanthropic action with the Oregon Food Bank. You will also work collaboratively on coaching designated Individual Giving Team Members.

Team & Project Management (~40% of role)
Coach, guide, and supervise Community Philanthropy Developers and/or Coordinators - Individual Giving.
Facilitate and monitor progress of team projects from our annual department work plan.
Collaborate with the Manager - Individual Giving in designing and implementing the Individual Giving Team strategic priorities and programs.
Donor Relationship Management (~40% of role)
Effectively cultivate, solicit and steward 55-65 mid-level and major donors, encouraging them to deepen their commitment with Oregon Food Bank by volunteering and/or advocating to end the root causes of hunger with us and our partner network.
Gain a solid understanding of OFB programs and how to align each donor’s interests with each as well as our public policy priorities.
Maintain donor records in a detailed and timely fashion in our database (Raiser’s Edge NXT; training provided).
Organizational level responsibilitiesof all exempt employees (~20% of role)
Be an ambassador and a leader for OFB’s vision and mission, a cross-departmental collaborator, and an active contributor to building a movement to end hunger for good[4] .
In consultation and coordination with your supervisor, actively contribute to:
Cross-departmental efforts
Work culture activities and programming
Advisory and consultative groups such as affinity groups, Equity Ambassadors, Equity Think Tank meetings, among others
Proactively develop knowledge and skills that strengthen your capacity to perform your specific role, as well as to contribute to and advance OFB’s goals, vision and mission.
Other related duties as assigned.

Application qualifications

Experience/Skills:

You have a combination of experience and/or demonstrable growth in some combination of the following areas, or others you believe are related:

Leading, coaching, training, and/or evaluating staff.
Working collaboratively on a fundraising, community impact or member services team.
Motivating or inspiring others to take action and/or set and achieve goals.
Record of securing individual gifts between $5,000-$20,000.
Project management skills, including ability to multi-task and produce timely, accurate work.
Ability to plan and lead meetings with other team members and/or donors or supporters.
High degree of emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
Proficiency with Google Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and databases.
Organizational level skills and experience for exempt employees include:

Disposition and willingness to innovate, problem solve, test, fail and adjust.
Experience in modeling intercultural competence and demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion and social justice.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, take initiative, and to maintain confidentiality.
Project coordination and organization skills; ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail; meet deadlines, ability to handle interruptions, and produce timely, accurate work.
Self-directed, meets benchmarks and checks assumptions about results and end goals. Ability to work independently and as part of a team; provides role clarity, shows willingness to support others to build momentum and share success, comfortable working in an office environment and offsite[5] .
Ability to thrive in a creative, responsive, and fast-paced culture.
Organizational level preferred qualifications of exempt employees include:

Multilingual skills at a minimum professional level of proficiency or greater in English and any additional language/s, defined as being able to speak the languages with sufficient structural accuracy and vocabulary to participate effectively in most formal and informal conversations on practical and professional topics.
Multicultural skills of adaptation and integration are strongly preferred.
Adaptation is defined as the capacity to communicate and interact with people of multiple cultures, backgrounds, and styles by incorporating and adapting to the world view and perspectives of others.
Integration is defined as being able to “code-switch” or move in and out of one's worldview and help others understand different cultures, backgrounds, and styles to promote diversity and inclusion.

The Fine Print:

Work Environment

Work is performed in an office environment[6] while sitting in meetings or at a computer screen for extended periods inside and outside of Oregon Food Bank and will use computer and phones extensively.
May occasionally work outside of general working hours of 8:00 – 5:00 p.m., such as evenings and weekends, and occasional travel out of town may occur.
This role requires infrequent travel/Oregon driver’s license/infrequent work outside normal business hours with travel by car to points outside the greater Portland metro area.
Work may require to lift, move and carry objects from 20 to 40 pounds, such as boxes containing office and other supplies. Crouching, bending, kneeling and reaching when filing. Accommodations may be available upon request.
