Feeding America (formerly named America's Second Harvest) announced today that the Internet company, The Hunger Site (www.thehungersite.com), has raised more than $250,000 in Internet donations throughout their longstanding partnership towards fighting hunger in America. Feeding America, the nation's largest domestic hunger relief organization, feeds 25 million Americans annually who are at risk of hunger.
The partnership between Feeding America and The Hunger Site began in 2000 and has generated over $250,000 to date, which translates into 4,000,000 meals made available to Feeding America's network of food banks nationwide. During the past year alone, The Hunger Site has generated nearly $100,000 in donations for Feeding America.
Vicki Escarra, President and CEO of Feeding America said, "We at Feeding America could not be more thrilled about our partnership with The Hunger Site. People lead very busy lives these days and The Hunger Site is user-friendly and an easy way for people to donate and become engaged in the fight against hunger. The increase in Internet donations throughout the past year illustrates the importance of making it easy for citizens to donate online. We look forward to continuing a long and successful partnership with The Hunger Site."
"At The Hunger Site, we recognize the value of the work done every day by Feeding America. We are delighted that the actions of our site's visitors allowed us to increase our donation this year to $100, 000," said Tim Kunin, Chief Executive Officer of the GreaterGood Network/CharityUSA.com (the parent company of The Hunger Site).
Feeding America launched the inaugural Hunger Action Month this September, a nationwide call-to-action effort to mobilize the public, bring greater attention to the issue of hunger in America and promote ways for individuals anywhere to get involved with the anti-hunger movement. The Hunger Site is an easy way for citizens to engage and learn about the state of hunger in America and to support the cause.

Since 1999, The Hunger Site has championed the ability of the Internet to bring people together to make a difference. When people take the simple action of clicking on the yellow button on the site's home page every day, the result over time is literally thousands of tons of food for the world's hungry through money provided by sponsoring advertisers. The Click to Give(TM) program is free for site visitors. The Hunger Site raises additional funds for charity through the Gifts That Give More(TM) program and contributions paid for by items sold in the The Hunger Site's online store.
