What next? by Brett Weisel

What a year! In 2013 we faced many challenges in Congress, but because of supporters like you, we've been able to fight back and prevent additional cuts to programs that help the hungry.

If you've ever wondered whether your voice matters, our work last year is proof that it does. Over the past year, your support and participation helped us:

  • Send nearly 80,000 emails urging Members of Congress to visit their local food bank.
  • Make nearly 16,000 calls to Congress in support of protecting and strengthening federal hunger-relief programs.
  • Share real stories about hunger in America with Congress, submit letters to the editor, attend town halls, and recruit thousands of new advocates to join the fight against hunger.

These are amazing accomplishments that have truly made an impact in the fight against hunger and we could not have done it without you. But the fight continues in Congress and we have more work to do to achieve our vision of a hunger-free America.

What's next in 2014? Help us decide.

Soon we will turn our attention back to the Farm Bill. The latest news suggests negotiators are getting closer to a deal. While we're not sure what will happen or what the outcome will be, we know our efforts to fight for Americans struggling with hunger will not end there.

Tell us what issues you think are the most important to tackle in our battle against hunger this year. Our collective voice is what makes us strong. Thank you for continuing to fight with me.

Brett Weisel is the Director of Advocacy for Feeding America.
