Virtual Rally to Protect Anti-Hunger Programs

December 5, 2012
by Feeding America

Feeding America and national partners are launching a two-week virtual rally focusing on the White House this week and on Congressional Leaders next week. The goal of the campaign is to generate a high volume of Twitter and Facebook messages targeted at the five key negotiators in deficit reduction talks. We are partnering with other hunger-relief organizations to get the word out!

Our campaign is focused on protecting two key supports for Americans struggling with hunger: SNAP (food stamps) and the charitable giving tax deduction.

Let's bombard our leaders with messages!

There are three main actions you can take to support the campaign:

  1. Retweet messages from Feeding America, food banks, and other campaign participants.
  2. Tweet a message to the White House or Congressional Leaders.
  3. Post a Facebook message about the campaign on your Facebook timeline.

Help us track our impact, each Tweet must also include at least one of the following hashtags: #SNAPworks or #ProtectGiving.

Here is the schedule for when you should contact our leaders:

Thurs Dec 6: President Obama @WhiteHouse

Fri Dec 7: President Obama @WhiteHouse

Weds Dec 12: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid @SenatorReid
