All year we've been asking you to urge Congress to get to work on Child Nutrition Reauthorization (CNR). Good news—it's working.
On August 5th, the Senate introduced the Hunger Free Summer for Kids Act of 2015, which will help eliminate barriers that prevent kids from getting the food they need during the summer—like giving food banks and other on-the-ground providers more options to serve children where summer meal sites don't exist or aren't reaching enough kids.
The Hunger Free Summer for Kids Act of 2015 is a marker bill, a piece of legislation containing provisions that, if popular, will be included in the final Child Nutrition Act before it goes to a vote in Congress in the coming weeks.
We're asking you to make the Hunger Free Summer for Kids Act of 2015 very, very popular before the Senators head home for their summer recess tomorrow.
Senators who sign on as co-sponsors of this marker bill are publicly showing their support for summer feeding programs and can be counted on to help make sure the provisions in the Hunger Free Summer for Kids Act of 2015 make it into the final CNR package.
This is an important next step in the fight to strengthen child nutrition programs. Can we count on you to e-mail your Senators TODAY and ask them to co-sponsor the Hunger Free Summer for Kids Act of 2015?
Let's not miss this opportunity to take an important step towards a hunger-free America.
