PA. Gets ‘Slapped” by Feds, Improves Feeding the Poor | Philly.com

Historically, Pennsylvania has been among the slowest states in processing SNAP benefits to the point that the federal government stepped in to demand they do better. As a result, it jumped from 47th on a list of the 50 states in 2012, to 19th in 2015. Advocates credit the improvement to a new governor, the termination of a controversial means test for benefits, and better technology. Read more »
