One in six children in the United States live in food insecure households, lacking consistent access to the food they need to thrive. Wholesome Wave Is Growing A Nationwide Network To Get Fresh Produce To People In Need | Fastcoexist.com

Feeding America helps provide 1.25 billion pounds of produce to people in need each year. Another organization called Wholesome Wave is working to help provide produce to people without healthy food choices by creating a “prescriptions-for-produce” program that helps farmers markets and stores implement matching programs for SNAP with a secondary currency that can only be spent on fruits and vegetables.
