Giving Expired Produce a Purpose at Houston Food Bank

The Houston Food Bank has partnered with a local composting company, Farm Dirt, to efficiently transform damaged or decayed produce into sustainable, nutrient-rich soil. Farm Dirt also partners with a local school district to convert the school’s produce scraps into compost for their urban harvest gardens and educate students about why it’s important to recycle food waste through composting.
