Leighton Meester is one of several celebrities who have donated an item or experience as a part of the eBay for Charity #GivingTuesday holiday auction benefitting Feeding America. This unique auction features memorabilia and experiences donated by celebrities, as well as an exclusive collection of Feeding America-inspired PINTRILL pins – all available only on eBay with 100% of the proceeds going to Feeding America. You can visit eBay.com/FeedingAmerica to bid on lunch with Leighton Meester, a chance to volunteer alongside Julie Bowen, sideline tickets to a New York Jets game donated by Kelvin Beachum, tickets to Alan Cumming’s latest performance and more!

We had a chat with Leighton to hear more about why she chose to participate.

Q: Why did you decide to support Feeding America?
A: Growing up, there were many times I faced food insecurity, not knowing if we could afford food at the checkout line, using food stamps, and often not having anything in the pantry at mealtime. I am so fortunate to be able to bring a voice to this cause. I’ve had such a wonderful experience volunteering with Feeding America serving meals. Being face to face with people who experience hunger, from the kids at Para Los Niños charter school, to the women at the Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles, it has given me perspective and understanding, as well as so much joy.

Q: Why were you interested in participating in the eBay auction?
A: The holidays are when the family gets together, and memories are made, but gathering around the table for a meal isn’t always a reality for so many at this time. Bringing awareness to this issue and fundraising is a reminder to volunteer and donate.

Q: Where will you want to go to lunch when you go with the winner of your auction item?
A: I’m thinking Urth Cafe. It’s a staple in Los Angeles and since we have nice weather year-round, we can enjoy sitting outdoors.

Q: Are there any other auction items that particularly interest you?
A: the Brazilian cooking class with Camila Alves!

Q: This year at Feeding America we are focusing on what we are thankful for. Can you share with us what you are thankful for this year?
A: I have so much to be thankful for. The health of my family, having wonderful friends, and the ability to enjoy and appreciate it all.
